Environmental Health & Safety Manager

The EH&S department is recruiting a Manager Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) to support the Janssen Supply Chain pharmaceutical manufacturing processes in Belgium. The position will be based in Beerse, Belgium. The Janssen Supply Chain Organization produces medicines for our patients in Beerse and Olen. Together with 650 passionate colleagues we deliver 5 patients per second. The EH&S Manager Pharma feels the beating heart of Janssen Supply Chain (JSC) at the Beerse and Olen locations. The Manager supports and advises these groups in the development and implementation of their EH&S policy and is continuously improving its programs to prevent severe injuries, environmental damage and undesired health effects caused by activities at the workplace, together with the team of EH&S experts. Major responsibilities You drive and train leaders, line of supervision, employees and partners in taking up their legal and J&J EH&S roles and responsibilities, in a fast-accelerating organization. You convince the leadership team in developing and implementing tactical Yearly Action Plans to ensure compliance with EH&S local regulations and J&J standards and implementing the enterprise wide and JSC specific EH&S strategy, programs and projects. You are the prevention advisor for JSC Beerse and Olen plants. You ensure continuous improvement of EH&S performance by sharing EH&S metrics and trend analysis. You complete the management action plan to ensure timely corrective actions are taken when EH&S hazards are identified. You support EH&S Campus Belgium as accountable of accurate EH&S data reporting of the business. You lead all aspects of the development and implementation of EH&S practices and procedures. You develop strong collaborations with e.g. engineering or facilities to ensure EH&S aspects are considered at the beginning of new projects or changes. You mentor EH&S staff and management on ways to improve outcomes; you assign projects or activities to individual contributors. You administer the EH&S relevant budget and lead to prioritize and implement short term and long term investments to improve EH&S, together with business and project managers. You champion a culture of continuous improvement, increase effectiveness and efficiency of operational and EH&S processes. You work together to identify and overcome performance barriers. You influence and convince the leadership to advance safety and environmental projects and programs and when needed, you raise important issues and ongoing substandard performance to JSC and EH&S management. You support in reporting, calling out and investigating severe incidents and near misses and defining effective Corrective and Preventive Actions. You prepare, take part or coordinate EH&S related inspections and audits and handle interaction with EH&S related agencies. Together with the environmental expert and partner, you develop sustainability, recycling and waste initiatives. You are one of the key players in the site emergency planning and business continuity planning. You are available outside normal working hours to assist in case of calamities and will be part of the stand-by role at the Beerse site. You partner with the medical department to facilitate the successful deployment of employee health and well-being requirements and programs. You participate in Campus Belgium EH&S programs, projects and initiatives as team member or project lead. You are part of the EH&S Leadership team of all Belgian J&J sites, together with other point-of-contacts for a business you provide back-up to ensure continuity in EH&S support. Our expectations You have minimal a bachelor’s degree or equivalent by experience. You have EH&S education Prevention advisor level 2 or equivalent as a minimum. You have experience in pharmaceutical, chemical, R&D or manufacturing environment. You demonstrate a strong personal leadership with shown skills working within diverse teams. You show strength both spoken and written in English and Dutch You like to work with people, no matter what level, in a sophisticated organization.
