Project Engineer

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood is currently recruiting for a Project Engineer with experience in the Mining and Metals industry. <br><br>Job Objective: <br><ul><li> Responsible for interface management/co-ordination on project </li><li> Provide specific co-ordination function for the technical change and technical risk process </li><li> Responsible for planning, execution, monitoring, control and close out of engineering work packages to agreed quality standards and Clients' satisfaction </li><li> Ensure the project requirements are in compliance with location specific government rules, regulations and statutes. </li><li> To work in a safe manner, complying with and actively contributing to the WOOD Health, Safety and Environmental HSE policies, manuals and procedures. At all times considering the health, safety and welfare of fellow workers, visitors, clients, community and the environment. </li></ul><br> Key Responsibilities: <br><ul><li> To support and understudy the Project Engineering Manager in all aspects of engineering management for the project </li><li> To support the Project Manager in aspects of interface management, co-ordination </li><li> Ensure that the technical integrity and work scope definition is maintained throughout engineering and construction management activities, by maintaining close co-operation with those functions. </li><li> Maintain structured communication with the Suppliers, Contractors and Design Subcontractors on technical and commercial matters. </li><li> Assist with the scheduling of the work and the development of the project program </li><li> Ensure effective document control and information management in full compliance to project procedures </li><li> Assist with the measurement of engineering man-hour efficiency and cost </li><li> Issue progress, efficiency and technical overview reports (where required) </li><li> Interface with Engineering Discipline Managers on resource planning, allocation, demobilisation and appraisal, to achieve project and company resource management objectives. Review and monitor engineering performance indicators. </li><li> Facilitate inter-discipline co-ordination and resolve interface issues between technical disciplines </li><li> Close out work packages according to procedures, and distribute and archive useful information gained and lessons learnt. </li><li> Ensure that all engineering documentation and drawings are adequately prepared, filed, secured and transmitted. </li><li> Participate in project risk assessments and the maintenance of the project risk register </li><li> Support the technical and project change management process by co-ordinating technical decision records and project change notices </li><li> Monitoring and expediting of vendor data in accordance with contract/purchase order requirements </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><b> Qualifications: </b><br><ul><li> BSc Degree or B Tech Degree with 5 years experience on multi disciplinary projects </li></ul><br><b> Desirable: </b><br><ul><li> Registered as Professional Engineer / Technologist. </li></ul><br><b> Knowledge, skills and experience: </b><br><ul><li> Ability to effectively schedule work items. </li><li> Ability to effectively manage within tight time frames. </li><li> Analytical decision making skills. </li><li> Superior interpersonal and communication skills </li><li> Ability to effectively work in a team </li><li> Managerial - leadership ability/skills with ability to delegate effectively </li><li> Ability to obtain performance from; and get deadlines met, by people, without having direct authority over them </li><li> Good organizational and time management skills </li><li> Knowledge of safety, environment and Industrial Relations. </li><li> High degree of literacy. </li><li> Basic computer skills (Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, MS Project, e-mails). </li></ul><br><b> Desirable: </b><br><ul><li> Good commercial awareness/risk management skills. </li><li> Previous experience in a similar position </li><li> Experience in Project Engineer/ co-ordination management on medium to large projects and studies </li><li> Site experience construction and commissioning </li></ul><br><b> Personal attributes: </b><br><ul><li> Interpersonal negotiating and communication skills. </li><li> Motivating and empowering management style </li><li> A pro-active attitude. </li><li> Personal integrity and trustworthiness. </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
