Alberta Land Surveyor - Branch Leadership Opportunity

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood Geomatics Limited is seeking a full time Alberta Land Surveyor to manage a branch in our Edmonton or Calgary office, that is both a current Alberta Land Surveyor and a current Canada Land Surveyor. For the right candidate, there is a possibility of taking on the role of Managing Director of Wood Geomatics Limited.<br><br>With the support of Wood resources, you will be responsible for the supervision, direction and control of land surveying services related to various Transportation, Municipal and Oil and Gas projects.<br><br>To succeed in this role, the successful Land Surveyor will have a well-rounded background in the survey industry. <br><br>Working under the supervision of the Geomatics Discipline Lead, the primary responsibilities will include:<br><ul><li>Branch management of a Land Surveys office,</li><li>Managing survey projects in Alberta (project planning, schedule development and management),</li><li>Supervising and providing direction to field and drafting staff in the creation of both cadastral and engineering survey products, to ensure deadlines and objectives are met efficiently and on time,</li><li>Providing quality assurance and quality control of end results,</li><li>Taking professional responsibility for surveys performed,</li><li>Ensuring timely and accurate invoicing,</li><li>Maintaining professional communications with clients, staff, and the public,</li><li>Calculating/ checking parcel boundaries, construction layouts, control networks in a wide variety of markets,</li><li> Contributing to Business Development efforts with the aim of generating project work from new or existing clients. </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><ul><li>Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Geomatics Engineering or equivalent,</li><li>Minimum 5 years of experience as an Alberta Land Surveyor,</li><li>Active Membership as an Alberta Land Surveyor with Alberta Land Surveyors' Association (ALSA) is required,</li><li>Active Membership as a Canada Lands Surveyor with the Association of Canada Lands Surveyors (ACLS) is required,</li><li>Other professional designations (i.e. PEng) will be considered an asset,</li><li>Strong computer skills with experience in related software (Trimble Business Centre, MicroSurvey, Civil3D, ArcGIS, Agisoft),</li><li>Proficient with UAV and 3D Laser Scanning Equipment and software for data processing, point clouds, and 3D modeling.
