Piping Engineer - Mining & Minerals (Melbourne)

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood is currently seeking a <b>Piping Engineer </b>in order to grow its Mining & Mineral group to meet the large demand in critical metals projects. <br><br>Commencing into the Detailed Design phase of the project you will need to have a sound background in piping engineering design and coordination to ensure the detail design is executed successfully. A key component of decarbonising the world is the Mining and Minerals Industry which supplies the critical minerals required for this revolution. Wood is currently delivering critical metals projects (Battery and Magnet metals) all over the world, including Copper, Lithium, Vanadium, Rare Earths, and Base Metals projects <br><br>As a key part of the Wood team, you will be responsible for duties such as, but not limited to: <br><ul><li> Ensure the quality of deliverables is in line with the relevant codes and standards, needs of the customer, and regulatory authorities </li><li> Prepare, review and approve piping technical specifications and piping material specifications </li><li> Prepare and approve datasheets for valves and special piping items </li><li> Requisition piping components, provide technical evaluation and review of vendor documentation </li><li> Perform piping engineering detail design calculations </li><li> Develop piping and pipe support standard detail drawings </li><li> Perform and check pipe stress analysis and pipe support design </li><li> Prepare and development of project-specific procedures </li><li> Provide input into the P&IDs and participate in HAZOP reviews </li><li> Provide technical support to the onsite construction teams, projects department, and estimating department </li><li> Provide input to the proposal and budget estimates </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br>What will set you apart from other applicants will be your understanding of Mining and Minerals processing, with a minimum of 5 years of post-graduate design experience. As part of this role, you can leverage off some of the industry's sharpest minds but you will join us with a proven track record of successfully delivering projects. You will also have: <br><ul><li> Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institution </li><li> Sound technical knowledge of piping engineering, including calculations, specifications, material and valve selection, P&ID development, and requisitioning of piping components </li><li> Good understanding of procedures and workflows related to the piping discipline </li><li> Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, and engineering programs </li><li> Pipe stressing capability and experience with Caesar II, AutoPIPE, and other relevant computer pipe stress software packages are desirable </li><li> Attention to detail </li><li> Ability to effectively work in a team </li></ul><br><br>We are open to hiring from any major city across Australia. <br><br>So much of our success depends on feeling part of a team with people around us that we can rely on.
