Platform Operations provides support and expertise for One Platform to member firms and global functions and for globally managed services. Support at both Tier 2 & 3 levels are available as well as enhanced support options for departments that need them. Operational Support areas are grouped in three Chapters: Cloud Enterprise: Azure services, Connectivity, Gateways, Core Infrastructure and Security. Digital Workplace: Identity Management, O365, Messaging, Chat, Voice and Collaboration. Service Management: Incident, Problem, Change, Configuration, Security Compliance, Service Continuity and ServiceNow delivery. Role Summary The Azure Tier 3 Senior SRE Engineer is primarily focused on implementing and embedding Site Reliability Engineering processes in the day to day operation of KPMG’s Global Azure infrastructure. The ideal candidate is well rounded in Azure IaaS and PaaS offerings and will form part of the team that owns the KPMG Azure Operational stack for One Platform. You will work with other teams and vendors to enhance and improve our Operations environment. You must have a strong background in automation with PowerShell and Azure DevOps. Agile experience preferred. Possess at least AZ-104 or AZ-204 certification. Additionally, AZ-400 certification is preferred Strong Azure DevOps knowledge (+3 yrs): CI/CD Pipelines, Git, Repositories, Boards, YAML. Strong scripting ability in PowerShell Good understanding of Site Reliability Engineering Principals: e.g., Monitoring, Observability, Release Automation, Eliminate Toil. Must possess a solid understanding of Linux OS and Windows OS Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, PowerShell Desired State - DSC) Experience in managing small projects Participate in on call rotation Participate in troubleshooting support escalation and daily ITSM ticket handling Perform technical infrastructure lead role during Major Incidents What you will do Key Accountabilities Accountable for leading the technical implementation of operational improvements within the Chapter; including, but not limited to, full end to end automation of as many processes as possible using GitOps as a paradigm. Accountable for ensuring adherence to guidelines and best practices by colleagues in the tier 3 & tier 2 support teams, improving operational stability as a result. Responsible for mentoring less senior members of the Chapter as well as providing technical guidance to Management and Leadership on operational issues Responsible for technical expertise in any projects they are assigned to, with a particular focus on ensuring any product delivered by a project is reliable and supportable by the Chapter. Accountable for assessing our vendors / suppliers continually for their suitability in providing services pertaining to the Chapter’s responsibilities. What you bring to the role Technical Skills & Qualifications Technical skills required to perform this role Microsoft Azure AZ-104 certification minimum Azure Iaas & Paas Products Good understanding of Site Reliability Engineering Principals: e.g., Monitoring, Observability, Release Automation, Eliminate Toil Solid scripting experience PowerShell Hands-on experience drawing detailed technical diagrams and authoring technical documentation A pro-active nature and an overall high level of creativity, plus a problem-solving mentality Ability to analyze situations rigorously, logically, and systematically Ability to thrive in a high-pressure business critical operational environment Ability to work with people from many different cultural backgrounds Able to evaluate information quickly, look beyond the information, gather appropriate facts and evidence and explore potential root causes before a conclusion is made Able to clearly articulate the importance and expectations regarding support work and results, impact, time effort and timelines to team member, vendors and KPMG management Proven ability to dynamically prioritize work efforts to meet deadlines and work effectively with minimal supervision in a team environment and to diagnose interrelationships between data center facility, network, server, and application issues Consult and escalate operational issues and challenges beyond own experience or skillset Strong communication skills in order to create and share best work processes with teammates Description of level of Qualifications Bachelor degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Management or related field or acquired academic level by working experience or relevant industry renowned certifications. Infrastructure experience and knowledge including an advanced understanding of Microsoft Azure Cloud infrastructure/services and delivery models, storage concepts, networking basics, etc. Microsoft Azure certification is a strong plus. Experience with ISO/IEC 27000 family of standards Previous Team Management experience is considered a plus. Preferable Lean/Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies. Agile/Scrum certification is a plus. Affinity with frameworks, change and organizational sensitivity. Experience & Knowledge Minimum of 5+ years of recent experience building and supporting IaaS and PaaS solutions in an Azure cloud environment Experience of implementing / using GitOps including CI/CD Pipelines, Git Repositories and scripted automation. Experience with Site Reliability Engineering concepts with focus on removing Toil where possible. Strong business stakeholder management; Experienced in managing third parties; Experienced in working in a matrix management structured organization; Excellent organizational and planning ability: Excellent cross functional team management skills; Experience managing resources in a fast moving environment and on projects with evolving requirements and accelerated timelines; Strong data, metrics, and analysis skills.
