Assistant Driller - Offshore

<p><strong>Job Purpose:</strong> Assistant Driller's job purpose is to assist the Driller in all drilling operations, to perform a variety of duties on the drill floor and in the pump/pit room, shaker house, mud mixing and treatment areas, supervising all junior crew members working in drilling department areas.  These duties will be assigned by the Driller or Senior Supervisor and are to be carried out in such a manner that will not endanger personnel.</p>

<p style=''margin-left:14.2pt;''>The duties assigned will be varied and they will include but not be limited to the following:</p>

<p style=''margin-left:28.4pt;''>·     Support the Driller in all aspects of the drilling operation and rig floor activities, supervise and train junior crew members.</p>

<p style=''margin-left:28.4pt;''>·     Operate the drilling equipment when instructed by the Driller or Tool pusher.</p>

<p style=''margin-left:28.4pt;''>·     Maintain an accurate count of all tubular on board the rig. Maintain an accurate drilling, casing and tubing tally.</p>

<p style=''margin-left:28.4pt;''>·     Calculate and record ton-miles, complete sections of IADC report as per Driller's instructions.</p>

<p style=''margin-left:28.4pt;''>·     Responsible for maintaining mud pump hour records accurately.</p>

<p style=''margin-left:28.4pt;''>·     Assist in supervising operations on the rig floor.</p>

<p style=''margin-left:28.4pt;''>·     Supervise fluid line up, drilling fluid mixing and conditioning in pump room and pit room.</p>

<p style=''margin-left:28.4pt;''>·     Supervise mud treatment and shaker house management.</p>

<p style=''margin-left:28.4pt;''>·     Correctly lining up the mud standpipe, choke and kill and cement manifolds as the operation dictates.</p>

<p style=''margin-left:28.4pt;''>·     Conduct drilling department maintenance as directed by Driller.</p>

<p style=''margin-left:28.4pt;''>·     Supervise, co-ordinate and assist in the running and retrieval of the BOPs and auxiliary equipment.</p>

<p style=''margin-left:28.4pt;''>·     Pre-plan and prepare equipment, tools and resources for forthcoming operations.</p>

<p style=''margin-left:28.4pt;''>·     Ensure the lubrication, maintenance schedules and hourly checklists are completed.</p>

<p style=''margin-left:28.4pt;''>·     Ensure that tools and equipment are in a serviceable condition and ready for use, ensure they are stored correctly to avoid damage and deterioration.</p>

<p style=''margin-left:28.4pt;''>·     Ensure that the Driller's instructions to crew members are carried out.</p>

<p style=''margin-left:28.4pt;''>·     Report to the Driller, any condition or action that could affect the safety or efficiency of the operation.</p>

<p style=''margin-left:28.35pt;''>·     Inspect the condition of all tools to be incorporated in the drill string, ensure all measurements are recorded.</p>

<p style=''margin-left:28.4pt;''>·     Assist with deck operations when required.</p>

<p style=''margin-left:28.4pt;''>·     Assistant in rig moving and preloading operations.</p>

<p style=''margin-left:28.4pt;''>·     Member of a rapid response team and is required to carry out emergency response duties as required by the emergency response procedure.</p>

<p>Member of a rescue team when off duty and is required to assist the medic in casualty management as well as setting up and assisting with triage situation. </p>
