Derrickman - Offshore

<p>Derrickman's job purpose is to operate the pump/pit room, fluid mixing and conditioning areas.  To perform various duties on the drill floor and at the monkey board.  To carry out duties to the best of his/her ability, so as to contribute to the safe and efficient running of the installation.  These duties will be assigned by the Driller, Assistant Driller or Senior Supervisor and are to be carried out in such a manner so as not to endanger the safety of oneself or other persons who may be affected by these actions.</p>

<p style=''margin-left:14.2pt;''>The duties assigned will be varied and they will include but not be limited to the following:</p>

<ul>
<li> To work the derrick on tripping operations.</li>
<li>To maintain racking board equipment in a serviceable condition.</li>
<li>To perform routine servicing and greasing of derrick components.</li>
<li>To assist in slip and cut drill line operations.</li>
<li>To assist in nipple up BOP operations.</li>
<li>To work in the mud pump room, monitoring the operation of the mud pumps.</li>
<li>Report any mud pump or circulating system malfunctions to the Driller.</li>
<li>To perform routine maintenance on mud pumps and circulating system components.</li>
<li>To change out mud pump expendable components.</li>
<li>Monitor and record drilling fluid weight and viscosity at regular intervals and report any deviation from operational requirements to the Driller.</li>
<li>Monitor and record all pit levels at regular intervals and report any unexplained pit level increases/decreases to the Driller.</li>
<li>Maintain the pump room and pit room in a clean, tidy and hazard free condition.</li>
<li>Conduct Drilling Department planned maintenance as directed by the Driller.</li>
<li>Keep the Driller and Mud Logging personnel informed on movement of fluid between mud pits.</li>
<li>Supervise and instruct junior crew members working in mud mixing operations.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate and up-to-date mud record sheets.</li>
<li>Maintain mud pump operating hours record sheets.</li>
<li>Complete mud record section on the IADC report on a daily basis.</li>
<li>The operation of all drill floor equipment utilized in drilling and ancillary operations.</li>
<li>Member of a rescue team when off duty and is required to assist the medic in casualty management as well as setting up and assisting with triage situation.</li>
