Pipeline Technical Specialist, Valves

<p><b>Overview / Responsibilities </b><br />

Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Valve Engineer or Technical Specialist with extensive experience in the pipeline industry on large capital projects supporting the oil and gas industry.<br />
<br />
Job Objective:</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<ul>
<li>To coordinate and supervise design functions within a project/study context.</li>
<li>Ensure that designs are in accordance with project / study requirements and company objectives and are produced in a timely and cost-effective manner.</li>
<li>To work in a safe manner, complying with and actively contributing to the WOOD Health, Safety and Environmental HSE policies, manuals, and procedures. At all times considering the health, safety and welfare of fellow workers, visitors, clients, community, and the environment.</li>

Key Accountabilities &amp; Responsibilities:</p>

<ul>
<li>Prepare valve and piping technical specifications, calculations, reports, design criterion and other documents as required by the project.</li>
<li>Required to serve as customer interface from time to time depending on operational requirements.</li>
<li>Produce designs and technical details in accordance with project, discipline, statutory regulations, good practice, and company procedural requirements.</li>
<li>Technical input to PFD&
39;s, P&amp;ID&
39;s, line lists, valve lists and SPI lists.</li>
<li>Ensure the that designs produced support the method of construction and ease of plant maintenance and operations.</li>
<li>Ensure piping design standards are maintained and adhered to on all projects.</li>
<li>Provide technical guidance to Project staff on various aspects of design.</li>
<li>Review and comment on design documents and drawings from own discipline and from other disciplines.</li>
<li>Review vendor documentation for compliance with project / study specifications.</li>
<li>Review vendor documentation for compliance with project specifications.</li>
<li>Provide feedback on the quality, use and value of design systems used in design.</li>
<li>Liaise with client to ensure that design is in accordance with agreed requirements.</li>
<li>Ensure compliance and take initiative for safety and environmental aspects.</li>
<li>Keeping up to date with developments in the valve field e.g., updates to design codes etc.)</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Registered Professional Engineer or Technologist with minimum of 20 years&
39; experience.</li>
<li>Able to legally work in Alberta at time of application</li>
</ul>

<b>Knowledge, skills, and experience: </b></p>

<ul>
<li>Minimum of 20 years Piping/Valve selection experience in oil and gas, focusing on pipelines</li>
<li>Technical Competence - in terms of valve and materials selection and ability to extend theory to new and complex services.</li>
<li>Site experience - construction and commissioning.</li>
<li>Thorough in ASME,API, CSA Valve standards and conversant with ASME, API, CSA Piping/Pipeline standards and codes</li>
</ul>
