<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood is currently seeking a <b>Contracts Manager</b> in order to grow its Brisbane Mining & Mineral group to meet the large demand in critical metals projects. <br><br>We can offer you a career in the ever-expanding battery and magnet metals industry driving the decarbonisation of the globe. We are currently working on the detailed design of a concentrator on a magnetite project in Uzbekistan, and require a suitably qualified person to join our team on a full time permanent basis, based in the Brisbane CBD. <br><br>Wood is at the forefront of engineering solutions for a net zero future. A key component of decarbonising the world is the Mining and Minerals Industry which supplies the critical minerals required for this revolution. Wood is currently delivering critical metals projects (Battery and Magnet metals) all over the world, including Copper, Lithium, Vanadium, Rare Earths, and Base Metals projects. <br><br>As the Contracts Manager, your key responsibilities will include (but not limited) the following: <br><ul><li> Responsible for the management and leadership of the client contracts function within the assigned Business Grouping(s) </li><li> Providing leadership, guidance & governance to the organisation on all aspects of client contracting strategy, including the negotiation of terms and conditions with clients globally </li><li> Working with the assigned business(es), building on the current contracts strategy to drive efficiency / commons ways of working and robust controls and governance, including contract risk awareness and risk mitigation. This includes: <br><ul><li> Liaising with Commercial, Group Legal, Group Insurance, Group Tax, Group Treasury, Group Audit and Finance functions to ensure contract strategies, control structures and processes are aligned with contract delivery drivers and group-wide policies </li><li> Drive collaboration between all Wood business units globally, and in doing so strive for best practice and consistency throughout the company </li></ul></li><li> Develop and build internal relationships with stakeholders to become a business partner and trusted advisor </li><li> Provide input to commercial handovers to the execution teams for successfully awarded contracts </li><li> Drive continuous improvement across the function and look for innovative ways of working </li><li> Ensures that key Client Contract Processes and Procedures are documented and personnel have a clear understanding of the processes and procedures and are fully supported in their role </li><li> Responsible for the day to day management of the assigned Contracts team members </li><li> Provide robust client contracts governance and assurance across the assigned Business Grouping(s) and where required intervene to provide corrective action </li><li> Develop the functions skills and promotion of an environment of learning and empowerment </li><li> Continuously assess and update the competence assurance and assessment processes for the team, ensuring any gaps are addressed and development and succession planning is managed effectively </li><li> Monitor, support and where appropriate, mentor the development of function team members </li><li> Provide contracts input to Business Development for all tenders and proposals </li><li> Assist embedding the financial management framework </li><li> Personal safety and working within the provisions and guidelines of the overall Company HSSE policies and procedures </li><li> Ensure compliance with the Business Ethics Policy </li><li> Ensure compliance with the group-wide Contracting Policy (CP) </li><li> Represent Wood in industry wide contracts initiatives and workgroups (e.g. Oil and Gas UK or equivalent) </li><li> Act as a key point of contact for a BG to ensure that contracts support is provided on a timely basis </li><li> Provide weekly reports to their line managerwith an overview of: </li><li><ul><li> current BG contracts workload, </li><li> excess capacity or support required to support the BG requirements </li></ul></li><li> Provide day to day direction and oversight to direct reports (if any) with support of their line manager </li><li> Track and manage training requirements for direct reports (if any) with support of their line manager </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br>What will set you apart is your previous experience in a similar role working on a large mining project through an engineering company and extensive experience in lump sum contracts. You will also have: <br><ul><li> 10+ years experience in a similar role </li><li> Extensive experience and proven track record of having led and managed a client contract function in a service company environment </li><li> In addition to undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience, the individual should have work experience in the industry which would allow understanding of and exposure to key contracting principles </li><li> Experience in the negotiation and set up of JVs, MOUs, bidding agreements and consortium agreements </li><li> Experience of leading and managing a team </li><li> Expert knowledge of contract terms, contract principles and drafting and roll out of contracting policies </li><li> Working knowledge of the Company Finance and HR systems </li><li> Awareness of all relevant corporate and project procedures </li><li> Proven track record in contracts review, development and negotiation </li><li> Excellent understanding of Client contract structures, principles and policies </li><li> Contract experience should cover engineering and construction projects in at least one of the power, infrastructure, environmental and/or oil and gas industries, EPC, EPCm, standard contract model forms (including NEC, FIDIC, JCT, LOGIC or regional equivalents) preferably in both onshore and offshore environment </li></ul><br> Please note, only applicants holding valid working rights in Australia will be considered.
