Lead Technical Editor

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood is recruiting for a Lead Technical Editor to join our Operations Management Solutions (OMS) team based in Perth. Ideally we are seeking Perth based applicants, however the role can also be centred in either Brisbane or Melbourne. This role is offered as a full-time permanent staff position offering ongoing career development and flexible working arrangements. The position reports to the Lead Competency Specialist for the APAC region. <br><br>Working closely with our internal publications teams based in Aberdeen and Vancouver along with local subject matter experts, you will collaborate with key clients ensuring the work presented meets agreed project parameters and standards. Documentation deliverables will include manuals, procedures, work instructions, e-Learning modules, classroom packs, workbooks and assessments. A key component of this role is carrying out editorial and quality control checks on material scheduled for publication, working to identify errors and ensuring that published material meets the agreed parameters. <br><br>In this unique role, some other accountabilities will include: <br><ul><li> Working with clients during project kick-off and setup to define document / writing standards </li><li> Providing editorial guidance to Wood's global team of writers, editors, publisher and illustrators </li><li> Actively participating client review workshops </li><li> Establishing / maintaining a model for document tracking allowing clear understanding of document progress through all stages </li><li> Copying, distribution and close-out of work </li><li> Prioritising workload and flagging any possible problems for remedial action </li><li> Conducting final quality checks on deliverables </li><li> Participating in regular team meetings, noting progress and identifying any follow up actions </li></ul><br> Please note that we are only able to accept applications from Australian citizens or those who currently hold Permanent Residency (PR) and do not require company sponsorship to work lawfully in Australia. <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br>At Wood it takes a diverse range of skills and abilities to achieve the ongoing success and progress we are making in the changing energy sector. <br><br>We would welcome hearing from those with the following background, skills and qualifications: <br><ul><li> Demonstrated Technical Editing skills and grounding in Technical Writing principles </li><li> Exceptional attention to detail </li><li> Experienced proof-reader and able to consistently ensure that quality control processes and standards are met </li><li> Previous experience with technical publications, ideally in the LNG, Oil / Gas and engineering sectors with an understanding of the project life cycle and environment </li><li> Demonstrated capability in both written and spoken English </li><li> Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external clients </li><li> Highly organised and technically curious </li><li> Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat </li><li> Commitment to continuous improvement and ongoing learning </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
