Lead / Principal Electrical Designer

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood currently requires a <b>Lead / Principal Electrical Designer</b> to join our growing Brisbane office for a minimum 12 month contract on this technically challenging Magnetite project in Uzbekistan. Commencing into the Detailed Design phase of the project you will need to have a sound background in electrical engineering design to ensure the detail design is executed successfully. Wood is currently delivering critical metals projects (Battery and Magnet metals) all over the world, including Copper, Lithium, Vanadium, Rare Earths, and Base Metals projects. <br><br>This ideally would suit you if your current project is coming to an end or doesn't offer you the challenges of a larger project. <br><br><b> In this role, you will be responsible for duties such as: </b><br><ul><li> Leading a team of designers </li><li> Ensuring that the quality of output of the design section is in line with the needs of the customer and regulatory authorities </li><li> Providing technical and commercial direction to designers, overview design quality, design schedules, design budgets and perform detailed review of critical aspects of projects </li><li> Set man-hour budgets for drafting on projects </li><li> Assess the suitability of staff and identify the key resources for specific projects </li><li> Motivate and obtain commitment of design personnel to project QA/QC requirements, i.e. provide a fit for purpose design, on time and within budget </li><li> Promote a safe work environment and commitment to zero harm </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br>What will set you apart will be your previous experience at an engineering company with exposure to large mining designs and mega projects. You will also have: <br><ul><li> Minimum of 10 years design experience in the resource industry </li><li> Ability to deliver best practice design, with emphasis on cost-effective engineering </li><li> Well-developed computer skills with a good knowledge of CAD systems (preferably 3D modelling software) as well as a working knowledge of relational databases and spreadsheets </li><li> Possess teamwork skills as well as an understanding of other discipline requirements and expectations </li><li> Quick and accurate with methodical approach to allocated work areas </li><li> Good understanding of the scope of work and project development process </li><li> Proficient checking skills with ability to work unsupervised, focus on task completion, initiative </li><li> Quick and accurate with methodical approach to allocated work areas </li><li> Good verbal, written, interpersonal and organisational skills </li><li> Capacity to delegate appropriately </li><li> Managerial - leadership ability </li></ul><br> Please note, only applicants holding valid working rights in Australia will be considered and we e ncourage non Brisbane based applicants to apply and discuss the possibilities. <br><br>So much of our success depends on feeling part of a team with people around us that we can rely on.
