S&P Global Market Intelligence The Role: Contract Specialist (Fixed-Term Contract) Grade (relevant for internal applicants only): 8 The Location: Melbourne (Australia) The Team: The S&P Global Market Intelligence Legal Team is composed of experienced professionals within the legal and financial services industry. As part of the SPGMI Legal team, this role will assist the business in the negotiation, review and preparation of various client facing contracts. The Team has a casual and friendly atmosphere, with a “can do” attitude. We value teamwork and it is crucial that you are a team player in order to be successful. The Impact: This role is an important resource for a number of stakeholders as follows: the members of the MI Legal team who negotiate contracts; the Commercial organization as a source of information and guidance; and the global contracts operations team. This position will play a key role in managing contract workflow and allows the MI Legal Team to be responsive to legal and negotiation requests in an agile manner. What’s in it for you: The individual who fills this role will have an inside-out purview of the contracts lifecycle, and will develop expertise around a contracts workflow and database and Salesforce.com. The role provides the individual exposure to the business legal issues as well as the technology that supports the department. Responsibilities: Respond to internal client inquiries regarding legal and contract issues in a timely manner. Review submitted deal requests; includes checking draft contracts produced by Commercial or other internal clients; may include making minor changes to contract documents in line with policies; ensure that contract has been set up properly in SFDC. Update stages of contract negotiation cycle within contracts management application. Investigating contract administrative issues (e.g. determining whether a contract is still “active” or being billed); interfacing with both the sales administration staff and other business staff to determine status of contracts. Recommends process improvement and automation opportunities. Maintenance of boilerplate library (including Translations) and tracking changes to the standard forms so that translations can be updated Navigate contracts database and other internal systems to track and obtain information on SPGMI’s contractual relationships. Assist in data quality assurance of the contents of the contracts database and department’s intranet website and other departmental applications Special projects as assigned by manager What We’re Looking For: Basic Qualifications: 4-5 years’ experience in a related position, such as a paralegal or administrative support Ability to collaborate with other members of the team, the commercial team and the US-based legal operations team. Experience with Sales Force application, and able to learn new systems and processes quickly Experience with databases Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy Excellent verbal and written communications skills Ability to work independently, show initiative and operate with a sense of urgency Ability to work under pressure and to manage the expectations of clients and salespeople Passionate about solving problems. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with Apptus, a contract database-type system
