AI Software Engineer

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood has an immediate requirement for <b>AI Software Engineers</b> to join our Energy, Optimisation and Innovation team. The successful candidate will be based in either of our Perth, Melbourne or Brisbane CBD offices, and join an assembly of global talent that powers successful digital transformation in a practical, tangible way. <br><br>We are looking for individuals who would get a kick out of working closely with clients, and our best global business, digital and deep domain experts, to drive real tangible decarbonisation and optimisation outcomes for energy, mining and public infrastructure assets. <br><br>Your strong analytical skills and ability to develop innovative problem-solving solutions will support mission critical decision analytics for our clients. Additional responsibilities will include developing feature enhancements to our platform, developing industry-leading analytics software solutions and methodologies and provide talks and papers in industry leading conferences on behalf of Wood. We are looking for talented individuals with a serious commitment to software development, data science, large data analytics and transforming organizations into analytics led innovative companies. <br><br><b> About the role: </b> <br><ul><li> Passionate about software development, data science, large data analytics and transforming organisations into analytics led, innovative companies </li><li> Position requires analytical ability, creativity, and judgment in analysing, developing and implementing software solutions to complex requirements. </li><li> Defines, recommends, and implements strategy and solutions which deliver customer value and satisfaction through software and Cloud. </li><li> Able to apply leading software development practices and standards into robust, maintainable software solutions </li><li> Actively involved in every part of the software development life cycle </li><li> Leads professional teams to produce quality-centric outcomes and contributes to Product Management and planning activities, ensuring that development practices align with the business and end customer need. </li><li> Thoroughly understands and effectively executes existing software development practices, processes and procedures and develops/introduces new approaches as appropriate. </li><li> Ensures accurate and thorough documentation is maintained for the project. </li><li> Develops existing and implements new developments, testing, automation tools and IT infrastructure </li><li> Successful at distilling complex results or processes into simple, clear visualizations and explain sophisticated data concepts in an understandable manner both verbally and written </li><li> First-hand experience in guiding non-technical teams and consultants in understanding analytics at scale, infrastructure as code and best practices for robust software development </li><li> Optimize and enhance computational efficiency of algorithms and software design </li><li> Motivated by a fast-paced, service-oriented environment and interacting directly with clients on new features for future product releases </li><li> Enjoy collaborating in teams to share software design and solution ideas </li><li> A natural problem-solver and intellectually curious across a breadth of industries and topics </li><li> Have the opportunity to contribute to R&D projects and internal asset development </li></ul><br> <b> Please note, that we will only accept applications from Australian citizens or those who currently hold Permanent Residency (PR) visa for Australia and do not require company sponsorship to work lawfully in Australia. </b> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br>It takes a diverse range of people to achieve the level of impact Wood has on the global energy sector. As a member of the team you will demonstrate: <br><ul><li> 3-5 years of experience in software development environments, data structures and algorithms with a track record of delivering positive business impact and high-quality code. </li><li> Masters Degree or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Statistics, or related field </li><li> Experience building relationships with senior leaders (CxO) and stakeholders is a bonus </li><li> Experience working in Agile & Scrum environments </li><li> Architecting, designing, developing on, and managing Development Platforms hosted on Public Cloud </li><li> First-hand exposure to AI applications or experience building AI tools incl. ability to deploy analytics systems and operate them at scale (incl. logging and monitoring) </li><li> Strong understanding of software engineering concepts, DevSecOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Microservices, IoT Platforms & Paradigms </li></ul><br> <b> Technologies </b> <br><ul><li> Full stack development with modern web technologies: React, Typescript, Node.js </li><li> Languages: Python, Ruby, .NET, Java, C
