Business Analyst

Lead Business Analyst, Surveillance IT whose primary responsibility is the day-to-day management work and tasks assigned to the BA team across the Surveillance IT portfolio of work Purpose of this Role The purpose of this role is to complete tasks assigned to the BA team in support of meeting the objectives outlined on the Surveillance IT Book of Work. The tasks will include data mapping analysis, requirements gathering and documenting requirements and functional specifications and participating in the testing process. The BA team supports the MCM project and change initiatives across Surveillance for anti-money laundering. The team comprises of both contract and permanent team members. In this role you will have to understand data flow in various systems and be able to see the full picture of it. Principal Job Function • Completion of tasks assigned to Business Analysts Team to agreed timescales, scope and quality measures • Analysis and documentation of business requirements • Analysis of the various system flow and data • Production of detailed documentation; like business requirements documents and functional specifications, in order for a development team / vendor to meet the required business outcome. • Maintain full and up-to-date understanding of the business strategy, current practices and system capabilities; gain an in-depth knowledge of the Surveillance application/tool and the Standard Solution Framework • Specification and documentation of surveillance analytics to a standard which would bear scrutiny by an internal audit or external regulators • The participation in testing cycles, working with the developers to ensure adequate test scripts have been built and run, assisting users with acceptance testing • Leading, facilitating and participation in meetings / workshops for requirement management/ demonstration of developed software • Peer Review of BA team artefacts when required to ensure consistency and quality standards • Ensuring compliance with all relevant internal instructions (FIMs, GSMs, circulars), internal control standards and external regulatory requirements, including the management of operational risk and adherence to the Group’s standards of ethical behaviour • Following the Risk-Based Project Management methodology, adhering to production of all necessary documentation • Accountability for delivery – takes ownership of tasks assigned to ultimate resolution with minimal supervision Core Skills • Good hands on producing/authoring BRDs, FRDs • Work independently with business and stake holders. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (comfortable in written and verbal communications) to facilitate with users from around the world and from different cultural backgrounds), relationship management and flexible interpersonal skills, • Ability to Lead analysis to move the assigned tasks to closure • Ability to apply a structured approach to the management and planning of their own work (able to efficiently manage multiple tasks, prioritising appropriately and transparently) • Able to articulate clearly the project lifecycle and application development process including best practice methodologies and an uncompromising eye for quality • Good Capital Markets Domain Knowledge across a range of products: -FX; FXO; Equities; Equity Derivatives; Fixed Income; Futures; Swaps; Commodities • Knowledge of AML controls and trade lifecycle • Educated to degree level or equivalent Essential Experience • Prior experience in Global Markets / Investment Banking knowledge preferably in regulatory / compliance related projects is mandatory • Proven, significant and demonstrable experience of analyzing and documenting business requirements for global applications • Practical experience in functional analysis and design, utilising different methodologies i.e. Use Cases, Business Process Modelling within a Waterfall or Agile Project environment • Proven, significant and demonstrable experience of following a structured approach to analysis, including the preparation of all related artefacts (e.g. functional system specifications, data feed specifications, etc.) • Strong technical written communication skills • Excellent knowledge of the project lifecycle and application development process including best practice methodologies • Experienced in working with resources in geographically dispersed teams, appreciating and respecting local cultures, • Strong Markets knowledge across a range of products: FX; Equities; Equity Derivatives; Fixed Income • Ability to convey requirements to developers in the technical language understood by developers • Worked in Waterfall and Agile Project Deliveries • Managed complex requirements from different stakeholders and should be able to articulate the requirements as product feature • Worked as System Analyst or in Tech Functional Role Ideal Experience (Technical) • A proven track record of implementing market abuse surveillance / any regulatory and / or compliance solutions at Tier 1 investment banks, particularly if they have experience of working with an e-Surveillance package • An appreciation and experience of working on projects that are driven by Regulatory Mandate, and be able to articulate the challenges that such projects often encounter, and the ways in which they’ve been able to achieve success in such areas • Should have worked on JIRA for requirement management
