Web / Application Developer

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br><b> Role Overview </b><br><br> Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is currently recruiting a <b>Web</b> <b>Application Developer</b>, to be located in our St. John's or Ottawa office. The position will be part of a team focused on the development of applications for processing and displaying atmospheric/marine weather and climate data, that help our clients anticipate and prepare for adverse weather impacts on their operations. The team provides software development and mobile/web-based information delivery to clients using cloud technologies. The team uses an agile software development process. <br><br><b> Key Responsibilities </b><br><ul><li> Design, development, testing and debugging of front-end and back-end applications. </li><li> Designing applications from conception to completion. </li><li> Communicating effectively with the team members on various tasks and projects </li><li> Contributing to team processes and quality control measures </li><li> Monitoring, supporting, or enhancing existing applications </li><li> Participation in after-hours support rotation </li><li> Other duties as assigned. </li></ul><br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><b> Role Requirements </b><br><br> Individual is expected to be enthusiastic, interested in new technology, have a passion for quality and a desire for innovation. <br><br><b> Preferred skills: </b><br><ul><li> Time management and multi-tasking ability. </li><li> Good oral and written communication skills. </li><li> Ability to work as part of a larger team or independently </li><li> Knowledge and experience with one or more of the following: JavaScript, .NET, Python, React, Node.js, C
</li></ul><br><br><b> Additional Useful Skills: </b><br><ul><li> Application development experience in a team environment </li><li> Familiarity with Agile/Scrum software development methodology, unit testing and continuous integration/deployment </li><li> Familiarity with Amazon Web Services and Docker </li><li> Knowledge and experience with mobile framework app development </li><li> Experience with web/mobile mapping technologies </li><li> Knowledge and experience working in Linux environment </li><li> Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB; big data storage solutions would be an asset </li><li> Database experience in creating stored procedures and optimizing database queries </li></ul><br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
