<div class="mds-edited-text mds-font-body-copy-bulk"><p>The Senior Lecturer is responsible for teaching, course development, and on-going scholarship in the Journalism and Publishing programme in the Media School, with a specific focus on our new MA Journalism and BA (Hons) Journalism.</p>
<p>The post-holder will work collaboratively with course teams, deploying specialist expertise to develop pedagogy and the curriculum in innovative and critical directions.</p>
<p>The post-holder will be expected to undertake:</p>
<ul>
<li>Teaching at MA and BA level, in Audio and Video Journalism and other aspects of journalistic practice (such as news writing, media law and pitching). You may progress to become a pathway leader for Audio and Video Journalism.</li>
<li>Care of students’ pastoral support, intellectual stimulation, progress and attendance, as well as maintaining records and liaising with colleagues as appropriate.</li>
<li>Pedagogic and curriculum development that stimulate thought and practice that challenge the canon of journalism, with the aim of promoting diversity and inclusivity.</li>
<li>The expansion of the capacity of the course to meet our need to explore current and emerging issues in journalism practice, with a particular focus on Audio, Video and Digital Journalism - shooting and editing audio and video pieces on location and in the studio, mobile journalism, podcasting and producing stories for social media such as Instagram and TikTok, and mobile journalism. </li>

<p>We are looking for a motivated and creative individual with expertise in Audio, Video and Digital Journalism, and some teaching experience in Higher Education. We expect candidates to be working in and thinking of innovative ways to deliver journalism in a variety of media (short-form video and audio, podcasting and social media, traditional broadcasting, digital storytelling, among others), and willing to develop this area of our curriculum and teaching provision as we have our MA offering. </p>
