<p><strong>QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS</strong></p>

<ul>
<li>Ideally have previous supervision experience in a drilling environment such as Toolpusher, Maintenance Supervisor and has a full understanding of the technical aspects of the safe work / Control of Work (CoW) process etc isolation etc.</li>
<li>Be able to demonstrate appropriate experience with safety leadership and supervisory skills.</li>
<li>Have good professional knowledge and have completed systematic training for the post or have at least 3 years documented practice in offshore supervisory role.</li>
<li>Have considerable experience of Control of Work Systems in Oil & Gas industry.</li>
<li>Be able to demonstrate appropriate experience / work history /Area Authority competence.</li>
<li>Have demonstrable CoW AA knowledge.</li>
<li>Have considerable experience working with Permit to Work systems and task risk assessments (SJA's).</li>
<li>Experience as offshore Safety Rep or Committee Member is desirable.</li>
<li>Experience of working within a Competency Assurance Programme is desirable.</li>
<li>SQA/NVQ or equivalent Assessor/Verifier qualification is desirable.</li>
<li>Internal audit experience is desirable.</li>
<li>Knowledge and use of Synergy is desirable.</li>
<li>Proficient in the use of IT software and IT systems.</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>DUTIES/JOB SUMMARY</strong></p>

<p>Responsible for the day-to-day management, coaching and verification of the safe work process including the issue of all permit and isolation documentation.</p>

<p>Support the continued development in quality and compliance within the safe work and its supporting activities, e.g. Toolbox Talks.</p>

<p>Attend planning meetings for forthcoming operations to prepare for CoW activities and prepare appropriate paperwork for forthcoming activities.</p>

<p>Understand, and control SIMOPs effectively, communicating with drilling and wells stake holders including company personnel, client or platform management regarding potential SIMOPs whilst mitigating risk through effective planning of operations with regard to CoW.</p>

<p>Undertake QHSE responsibilities with client observation system, investigation reports and any other QHSE related duties.</p>

<p><strong>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p>

<p><u>CoW Responsibilities</u></p>

<ul>
<li>Perform as quality control co-ordinator for the safe work in accordance with work requirements site specific safe work procedures within the drilling areas.</li>
<li>Co-ordinate safe work planning supporting the offshore team.</li>
<li>Verify the long-term isolations register and carry out safe work monitoring audits as required checking permits and SIMOPS interfaces.
<ul>
<li>Participate in platform operational, permit and planning meetings.</li>
<li>Confirm through documented assurance activities that worksite inspections are carried out before, during and after performance of each task according to the permit requirements.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Create and manage permits and isolations, ensuring all appropriate hazards and controls have been identified for the task.
<ul>
<li>Ensure safe work (PTW) process is being followed.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Ensure all pre-requisite control measures have been put in place prior to a permit being issued for SIMOPS and interfacing activities between the different SIMOP operations.
<ul>
<li>Ensure appropriate level of risk assessment has been carried out for the task and that the hierarchy of control measures have been used. This includes both works not requiring a permit and tasks which require a Permit with either Level 1 or Level 2 and risk assessment (SJA) according to procedure.</li>
<li>Liaise with site area responsible to identify and assess potential SIMOP clashes during work permit planning and before issue of any work permit.  Support or act as focal point for any activity that has an impact for drilling rigs / areas.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Monitor and report on red zone compliance and barrier management.</li>
<li>Engage in pre-job safety toolbox talk at the worksite providing feedback on the effectiveness and quality of the communications and information as per company and client standards.</li>
<li>Check toolbox talks are carried out as per the client expectations and standards.  Confirm responsible person carries out pre-job safety toolbox talk at the worksite with other members of work party before work commences.</li>
<li>Ensure level of worksite monitoring required is defined as part of the risk assessment process and reflected in daily operational tracking as per the company and client expectations.  Monitoring can be undertaken by a competent person.
<ul>
<li>Ensure actions are raised in response to audit findings, where appropriate. Ensure actions are completed and closed out in a timely manner.</li>
</ul>

<li>Ensuring housekeeping standards are maintained through CoW completion and sign off.
