Lead Technical Editor

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood is currently recruiting for a Lead Technical Editor to join our Operations Management Solutions (OMS) team based in Perth. While our preference is for a Perth based applicant, we will readily review applications from those based in Brisbane or Melbourne. This role reports to the Regional Manager APAC OMS and is offered as an initial 6 month fixed-term contract with possibility of permanent staff and career development assignment with flexible working arrangements. <br><br>In this role you will work closely with our internal publications teams in Aberdeen and Vancouver, Australian based Subject Mater Experts, Project Leads/Managers and client focal points to ensure deliverables are consistent and meet project document/writing standards. Deliverables include a variety of different types of documents including: manuals, procedures, work instruction, e-Learning modules, classroom packs, workbooks and assessments. Other responsibilities of this role include: <br><ul><li> Providing support and assistance to Project Leads and Competency Specialist </li><li> Liaising with client focal points during project kick-off and setup to define document/writing standards </li><li> Liaising with clients (internal and external) at various stages throughout the production process </li><li> Providing editorial direction and guidance to internal global teams of Writers, Editors, Publishers and Illustrators </li><li> Participating in review workshops with clients </li><li> Tracking the progress of all documents for which they are responsible via project-specific spreadsheets and/or departmental databases </li><li> Establishing and maintaining a clear file structure to ensure that the job can be tracked back through all stages </li><li> Arranging copying, distribution and close-out of work </li><li> Prioritising workload and feeding back any possible problems to the appropriate people </li><li> Conducting final quality checks on deliverables before they are issued to the client </li><li> Participating in regular team meetings which may include minute taking and follow up actions </li></ul><br> To progress a document, some, all or more of the above may be required and when working across a suite of documents, sometimes several hundred at once, it must be ensured that all documents are processed in the same way to ensure consistency, but with an awareness of any elements which require deviation to ensure the quality of the finished product. <br><br>A large part of the role will involve performing editorial and quality control checks on all material being published, identifying errors related to the use of language in general or adherence to a specific style guide, and editing online in preference to hard copy. <br><br>Please note that we are only able to accept applications from Australian citizens or those who currently hold Permanent Residency (PR) and do not require company sponsorship to work lawfully in Australia. <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br>At Wood it takes a diverse range of skills abilities to achieve the ongoing success and progress we are making in the changing energy sector. We would welcome hearing from those with the following background, skills and qualifications: <br><br><b>Qualifications</b> <br><ul><li> Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or relevant degree (university or TAFE) </li><li> Certificate IV in Project Management or equivalent </li></ul><br> <b>Knowledge, skills and experience</b> <br><ul><li> Experience in designing and delivering integrated training and competency programs at a corporate level, to national standards (Australia, UK or New Zealand) </li><li> Knowledge of Australian PMA and / or RII Competency Packages and Units </li><li> General project delivery and management experience </li><li> Sound knowledge of technical competency models in the Energy, Mining and Resource sectors </li><li> Goal setting, on time delivery, general time management skills with an outcome focus </li><li> Effective capability in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint </li><li> Demonstrated Technical Editing skills and solid grounding in Technical Writing principles with an exceptional attention to detail, and ability to consistently apply Wood technical document production quality control processes and standards </li><li> Personal integrity and trustworthiness and a willingness to treat all people with respect, integrity and consistency </li><li> Strong initiative and self-drive to meet objectives, highly organised and technically curious </li><li> An appetite for persistence, resilience, and patience in a sometimes-challenging environment along with a strong willingness to learn </li><li> An appreciation of the value of teamwork and willingness to work as part of a team, providing support for other team members as required </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
