Your Role: Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Some barriers to entry exist at this level (e.g., dept/peer review). Responsibilities Works on complex assignments involving multiple problems; understands the business model across functions. Drives own area based on business model principles.; helps to define and deliver valuable, usable, and automatically testable user stories. Provides guidance to team, EM and PO/PM on ideas feasibility and options; provides guidance and coaching on design and best practices in software development; acts as a technical coach of other team members to become better engineers. Promotes test automation and its improvements; resolves escalations & customer issues, root cause analysis, issue prevention and product improvements. Proposes and drives cross-product improvement plans / roadmaps; sets the technical direction for one or more product. Effectively represents the product with other stakeholders within SolarWinds. Mentors developers and architects and uses coaching techniques, letting people figure out their solutions; may prioritize activities of others. Supervise SWAGS for product features. Perform code reviews; perform feature analysis reviews. Understand the pros and cons of various architectural approaches to building software; develop prototypes to evaluate technical solutions. Perform research necessary to solve complicated technical issues; perform build/buy analysis. Transforms more complex requirements and customer needs into a technical design; work under very little or no supervision. Collects relevant data and special cases prior to addressing the problem; identifies more solutions to problem, decides the best based on data and pros/cons. Understands SWI business/engineering model and sets priorities accordingly; drives cross-teams problem from its definition till successful completion on their own. Provides regular feedback and helps engineers grow. Determines approach on new assignments; ability to impact cost, schedules and short-term goal attainment of the company; determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel as a team lead. Qualifications Basic Qualifications Extensive knowledge and very high skill level in coding: drives development of complex features through multiple layers/areas (front-end, back-end, concurrency); improves coding and design practices across multiple team; debugs and troubleshoots issues from any product area in customer's environment; uses low level operating systems knowledge to troubleshoot complex issues; coaches others in advanced development techniques where it brings value; followed by team as a leader in development Extensive knowledge and very high skill level in software design: drives and oversees design architecture of complex features with multiple components; efficiently uses design patterns; reviews component and feature designs provides feedback by coaching Extensive knowledge and very high skill level in testing: proposes architecture and design changes for cost-effective testability; uses all types of tests on all testing levels; provides feedback to test strategies Extensive knowledge and very high skill level in test automation; implements cost effective tests on proper automation pyramid level; implements improvements for test automation solution inside the team Extensive knowledge and very high skill level in product design: designs the usability of new features; follows and improves existing usability guidelines Deep understanding of multiple runtime platforms like .Net or J2SE Demonstrated proficiency in multiple areas of programming (e.g., web development, concurrency, etc.) Marked interest in exploring and utilizing new technologies Has mastered one or more programming languages Preferred Qualifications 8 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent experience Environment & Physical Demands None Travel Requirements None
