The Role: Market and Competitive Intelligence Analyst The Grade: 09 The Location: Pasig City, Philippines The Team: 451 Research’s Market Monitor analyst team provides clients with unique, proprietary market forecasts for use in competitive intelligence and business development analyses. We draw on a number of information sources to help our clients understand the size, growth rate and competitive landscape within emerging technology sectors, from company interactions to advanced company modeling. Information sources include both internal resources (Publicly available information, 451 Research’s company databases, 451 Research’s tech industry analysts, S&P Capital IQ Pro) as well as our broad network of external contacts from across the tech market. Responsibilities: The Associate Research Analyst will provide support to a team of Market Monitor analysts who maintain a portfolio of market intelligence products across the technology market. Specific duties of this position include: Maintenance of company-level datasets and company models. Leveraging S&P Global’s databases on public & private companies, proprietary 451/S&P estimates and publicly available information the analyst will be responsible for maintaining up-to date company financial and demographic data Development & maintenance of datasets on 451 Research companies under coverage: The analyst will gather and maintain information (headcount, revenue, etc.) on new companies being added to 451 Research’s Market Monitor coverage. Maintenance of existing models: The analyst will be responsible for updating existing company models with reported data or new estimates on a quarterly basis. Development & maintenance of market population datasets: Population datasets range from country and company demographics, country level GDP forecasts, specific asset shipment data, etc. Population data represents a key foundational component of many products offered by 451 Research. The datasets included are provided by government agencies on a periodic basis, accessible by S&P under contractual arrangements or reported by NGOs and other entities. The analyst will be responsible for identifying the update cadence of population datasets and updating these figures when available in addition to creating and maintaining new datasets. Deliverable preparation: The analyst will be responsible for creating charts in excel and power point for use in syndicated Market Monitor deliverables and custom advisory projects that leverage market data and providing market level commentary for long and short-for research reports. New Product Development: The analyst will have the opportunity to develop new Market Monitor syndicated products. The new product development entails working closely with 451 Research and S&P subject matter experts to identify the competitive landscape for a technology segment, pulling the appropriate data from existing company models or building out new company estimates into a market-level dataset. What We’re Looking For: Basic Qualifications: Strong communication skills: Candidate needs to demonstrate the ability to speak to the processes they are overseeing and the data they are responsible for and convey the same in written form. This is important for client interactions and for addressing questions or process improvements to the rest of the Market Monitor team. Expert level Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills: The vast majority of tasks for this role entail working with excel. Creating new datasets in excel workbooks and organizing/presenting data using pivot tables and excel chart features is a critical component of this role. Familiarity with company financial statements: Data required to maintain and update products under the Market Monitor portfolio are often found in company financial statements. Familiarity with income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and their component parts is required. Flexible to work in different shift schedules Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency with Tableau/PowerBI beneficial but not required: Tableau and PowerBI are popular and powerful data visualization tools. Experience/expertise with these tools would be a valuable addition to the Market Monitor team. Proficiency with Python/SQL coding beneficial but not required: Python/SQL are programming languages that are used to access/organize data and automate analytical processes. Currently, expertise with these tools is lacking within the Market Monitor team and would be a highly valued addition.
