Principal Mechanical Engineer - Design and Manufacturing

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in product design and manufacturing to join the Schneider Electric Solar + Storage team. Our team is focused on designing the next generation of electro-mechanical solutions to serve prosumers in their residential storage and solar needs. The successful Design Aesthetics and Manufacturing Lead will join our R&D team in our Richmond, BC location to collaboratively bring high quality and innovative designs from concept to customer. We are looking for a positive, confident, self-motivated, passionate individual with a strong desire to work in an exciting, fast-paced, team based collaborative design environment. She/he will help us develop next generation technologies to empower and connect our products to each other, and to our customers. She/he is interested in renewable energy systems, solar energy, energy storage, and has strong aspirations for both independent and collaborative product development, and is excited about contributing to a world-class product. What will she/he do? Lead product concept design combining aesthetics and DFA/DFM attributes Work with industrial design, reliability, safety, and manufacturing teams to translate concepts into products Within a collaborative design team, she/he will proactively create and modify mechanical designs and drawings in Creo Parametric Proactively conceptualize product concepts based on market requirements Support design throughout the engineering process from initial concept to final production release What qualifications will make her/him successful? Undergraduate degree in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years (10+ years preferred) of experience in relevant industry in product design Demonstrated ability to create and influence functional designs that prioritize aesthetics while observing DFA and DFM methodologies Experience working in consumer electronics and customer facing designs Exceptional detailed design sense in creation of CAD models and drawings of electrical enclosures and hardware design/placement using Creo Strong foundation in engineering design methodologies: minimum constraint design, tolerance stack-up analysis, and GD&T coupled with design for manufacturability, assembly, serviceability, reliability, quality, and cost mentalities. Familiarity with design for regulatory compliance for electro-mechanical products (UL/IEC/NEC) as well as outdoor and ingress protection design implementations is preferred What's in it for her/him?
