Director, ESG Assurance Growth & Pursuits

Overview In FY21, KPMG launched our new global environmental, social and governance (ESG) plan, KPMG: Impact, clarifying our commitments and actions across four important categories: planet, people, prosperity and governance. This includes a more than $1.5 billion investment over the next three years to focus on five priority areas: solutions talent, supporting developing nations, collaborations and alliances, listening and taking action. The broader global societal and investor communities are continuing to look at the accounting profession to play a big role in the reporting of ESG-related metrics and information as this area develops into an extremely important strategic and regulatory component of our clients’ business models. In particular for ESG Assurance, it is a dynamic time as the global reporting standard frameworks are starting to crystalize with formalized announcements expecting to be made by the International Sustainability Standards Board (“ISSB”) and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) during the first half of 2022. In ESG Assurance, our responsibilities are to oversee the development of the processes, methodology and technology which will culminate with our audit professionals around the world having access to the right tools, support and training to deliver high-quality ESG Assurance services as the new regulations take form. The Director, ESG Assurance Growth & Pursuits will report to the Managing Director, Growth and Markets and serve as a key member of the Global Audit Growth Team primarily focused on supporting pursuit and client service teams to bring ESG Assurance services to our clients. This individual should bring extensive pursuit experience to the role, including the development of messaging, proposal documents, and client presentations. The Director should possess the vision and ability to bring people together across multiple perspectives to achieve global collaboration, consensus and consistency. This individual will possess a passion for ESG and bring forth a broad-based mindset to realize the opportunity. Some key components of the role are found below under Key Accountabilities. What you will do Pursuit support to the Global Audit Must Win and Priority Pursuit targets on ESG Assurance: Provide strategy and support (coaching/guidance/perspectives) to audit pursuit teams to meet the strategic ESG Assurance objectives for each tender Support Client Service Teams to integrate ESG Assurance into existing engagements: With a focus on Global and Platinum Accounts, support (coaching/guidance/perspectives) engagement teams to introduce the appropriate ESG Assurance service to clients Evolve and enhance our approach: Collaborate with pursuit and client service teams to continually evolve and enhance the ESG Assurance value proposition, narrative, bringing intelligence and collaborating with the broader Global Audit team (Marketing, KGSG) to ensure we are continually evolving and upgrading our materials for the benefit of the wider network Additional Audit Growth-related accountabilities: Engaging with various working groups, providing tracking and reporting What you bring to the role Skills & Qualifications Excellent writing and communication skills A deep understanding of the pursuit process and the ability to leverage relevant prior learnings and experience Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritise, set and meet deadlines Creative skills and the ability to express them in writing and verbally Ability to develop working relationships with the most senior people across the firm including partners and practice group leaders Very strong organization skills, initiative and proactive approach A strong sense of urgency and flexibility The ability to present complex and difficult messages skillfully. Also, the ability to produce writing that uses clear, precise and persuasive language Ability to work under pressure, show determination and persistence Attention to detail and resourceful.
