Field Guides and Sampling Assistants

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood is actively looking for eight (8) individuals to support the collection of samples (fish, sediment and water) along waterways in northwestern Ontario. <br><br>To be protective of health and safety related to COVID-19 protocols, workers will reside at a camp with food provided during work timeframes. Workers will be required to get tested for COVID-19 in advance of work and before leaving the project site. Vaccinations are highly recommended. <br><br>All positions are on call and do not provide benefits. Worker Safety Insurance Board (WSIB) coverage is included. <br><br><b>Several roles will be filled through this offer:</b> <br><ul><li>Ball Lake River Water Sampling Assistant & Fish and Plant Sample Coordinator and Processor;</li><li>Ball Lake Water Sampling Guide & Fish and Plant Sample Coordinator and Processor;</li><li> Clay Lake Water Sampling and Fish Collection Guide; </li><li> Clay Lake Water Sampling Assistant; </li><li>Dryden River Water and High Flow Sampling Assistant;</li><li>Dryden River Water and High Flow Sampling Guide;</li><li>River Flow Monitoring and Fish Sampling Guide;</li><li>River Flow Monitoring, Porewater Sampling and Fish Sampling Guide<b>.</b></li></ul><br><b>General job Duties and Responsibilities include</b>:<br><ul><li>Able to perform physical work outside</li><li>Assists in collecting surface water samples</li><li>Take and follow instruction from supervisors</li></ul><br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><b>Skills / Qualifications: </b><br><ul><li>Knowledge of waterways in northwestern Ontario an asset</li><li>Experience following instructions from supervisors</li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team</li><li>Commitment to working respectfully with others</li><li>Available to travel over night for up to 5 days at a time</li><li>Good oral communication skills</li><li>Be reliable, and highly motivated</li><li>For high flow samplers - ability to work independently and as part of a team, and available to travel over night for up to 7 days at a time</li><li>For Guides - experience operating a boat and motor; ability to work independently and as part of a team, and available to travel over night for up to 5 days at a time</li><li>Must be able to arrange own transportation to and from work locations at the beginning and end of each shift.
