The Role: Associate Director / Director, Channel Management, Australia and New Zealand (CM-ANZ) (12-month contract) Grade (relevant for internal applicants only): 12 / 13 The Location: Level 22, 400 George Street, Sydney NSW 2000 The Team: Channel Management, Australia/New Zealand (CM-ANZ) is part of the Global Channel Management team within the S&P DJI Commercial Team. CM-ANZ builds relationships with Financial Advisers (FAs), Wealth Managers (WMs), Asset Owners (AOs), Asset Consultants (ACs) and the managers of Insurance Company assets. CM-ANZ collaborates with Research & Development, Product Management, Marketing, and other commercial teams to understand and communicate partner priorities aligned with index licensing. CM-ANZ originates and influences the creation of content to educate and inform FAs/WMs and other intermediaries on the benefits of indexing. CM-ANZ travels and works with licensed partners to educate, build strong enduring partnerships, and gather market intelligence in the field. CM-ANZ also builds deep relationships and with Asset Owners and Investment Management Consultants licensing our indices as benchmarks for internally or externally managed active, or passive mandates. The Impact: FA/WM: This role will assist the Global Wealth Management Channel in building and maintaining relationships with FAs and ETF issuer distribution managers, and relationship management teams in Australia and New Zealand. You will gain an understanding of the distribution business model of our licensed partners (investment managers and ETF sponsors), the index tracking product landscape and how FAs risk manage client goals. You will enable CM-ANZ success by performing analysis, scheduling meetings and calls in close working relationships with the Global Head of Financial Advisor Channel Management, contributing to projects and developing the skills and experience for progression to higher roles in Channel Management or other parts of S&P Global. AO/IC: This role will also assist in identifying, building, and maintaining relationships with key influencers in the Asset Owner channel (retirement savings via superannuation plans, Foundations and Endowments, and Sovereign Wealth Funds) as well as Asset Consultants across Australia and New Zealand. The successful candidate will assist in designing programs specifically to meet market needs, to increase awareness, education, and adoption of indexing. What we’re looking for and responsibilities: Understanding of the competitive landscape including comparing S&P Dow Jones Indices with competitor indices. Ability to effectively present and distribute these messages to Asset Owners, Financial Advisers/Wealth Managers and Asset Consultants to increase awareness and penetration of indexing while developing a preference for S&P Dow Jones Indices. Primary contact methods include efforts to obtain meetings with target Asset Owners, Wealth Managers and Consultants, delivering index-specific messages requiring in-depth knowledge of S&P Dow Jones Indices to comparable competitor indices. Developing the Strategic outreach plan, aligning S&P Global and S&P Dow Jones Indices goals and objectives with local market needs Record and report activity via contribution to monthly reports. Generate and maintain relationships with key Asset Owners, Consultants actively utilizing index-based products through existing relationships, product provider sales distribution teams and networking to participate in S&P Dow Indices education programs. Assist in the coordination of local events including Indexing & ETF Masterclass, webinars, and Advisor Study Tour to North America with S&P Dow Jones Indices subject matter experts (“SMEs”) and market SMEs. Provide general support for S&P Dow Jones Indices teams wanting to leverage channel education opportunities in ANZ. Represent S&P Dow Jones in third party events and conferences in Australia and New Zealand including vetting and selecting conference opportunities, identifying speaking opportunities and topics, and finding appropriate speakers within S&P Dow Jones Indices, and market participants. Ability to collaborate and achieve buy-in with key internal stakeholders such as Product Management, Sales (Client Coverage), and Channel Management colleagues to communicate priorities, coordinate activities and provide direction and timelines for content production to support campaigns. Identify themes and ideas trending in Australia and New Zealand for the local market, coordinating with Index Investment Strategy, Product Management, and Research & Design teams to develop research and content addressing those topics. Problem Solving: Understand the Channel Management strategy and priorities. Demonstrate a command across our thought leadership, analysis, dashboards, publicly available data, and educational events to educate and inform market participants across channels. Collaborate with internal teams to plan, organize, and execute WM Channel client events. Directly support of client outreach alongside ETF sponsor partners. Monitoring and Reporting: Leads and evolves efficient reporting structure to accept monthly activity information from CM-ANZ. Record and report activity via contribution to monthly reports to senior management and key internal stakeholders, tracking progress towards annual strategic goals and priorities Effectively leverages SalesForce to capture institutional knowledge through meeting/call notes and create actionable intelligence for managers, key internal stakeholders, and clients Communication and Coordination: Resolves advisor and ETF sales consultant queries for content, data, and analysis. Assists in planning and coordination with ETF issuer and key client travel, presentations, and meetings. Assists in the creation, delivery and updates of internal strategy and external client presentation decks. Ownership and Drive: Takes ownership of assigned work seeking to improve how we operate. Sets high standards of work quality. Basic Qualifications: Undergraduate degree. Coursework in finance, commerce, economics and/or business a plus Proven skills of working effectively from the road including monitoring email, phone, and submitting timely reports. Knowledge of local distribution networks and influence forums (publications, events, conferences). Industry experience in institutional and/or wealth management relationship management and/or superannuation in Retail, Industry, Corporate or SMSF sectors. Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively verbally and in writing. Demonstrable ability to collaborate across teams and at all levels. Ability to balance daily duties and larger scale projects. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of the investment and decision-making process, and competitive landscape, in Australia and New Zealand. Masters degree in relevant discipline – business, finance, etc. Professional connections with influencers within Asset Owner, Consultant and Wealth Management Channels.
