Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) is the voice of the bus and coach industry, representing members ranging from the largest multinational transport operators to the smallest family businesses. Our members provide over 90% of UK bus services and the majority of UK coach services, getting 2 million people to work each day, 1.5 million people to school or college and millions more to the shops and to leisure attractions and activities across the country.

We help the industry to provide better journeys for all, creating greener communities and delivering economic growth.
We now seek a new Director of Membership to lead our relationship with our members. Working with colleagues across CPT, you will develop and maintain compelling member propositions and make sure our members know how to make the most of their membership. You will also develop and maintain our commercial partnerships and be creative in looking for ways to grow our membership. Additionally, you will have oversight of CPT’s central functions (except finance). You will be supported by a Head of Membership & Central Services plus two support staff; three Regional Managers as well as a further Head of role to be specified in conjunction with the successful candidate.

We seek an established leader with experience of leading a membership relations function in either a professional membership or trade body. You will come with proven management experience, leading diverse teams, with the ability to effectively influence and engage both internal and external stakeholders, at all levels. You will be experienced in measuring success and evaluation, including the use of KPIs to track performance. Ideally you will also come with experience in the development and implementation of marketing and communication strategies, and maintenance of commercial relationships.

Ultimately, you will be able to demonstrate the ability to work to CPT’s values – to be ambitious, inclusive and provide a professional service to our members.

We work flexibly between home and our central London office, and you will be expected to spend at least some time in London and meeting members in locations across the UK.

If you are an exceptional leader, practised in operating at a strategic level, then we would very much like to hear from you.
