Software Engineering Manager

The Eaton European Innovation Center has an open position for a Software Engineering Manager with broad focus on Data Center, Vehicle and Aerospace applications. This position involves leading an engineering team responsible for legacy and new product software/firmware and controls development. You will be developing strategy, direction, priorities and constructive solutions aligning to business needs and will be responsible for staffing and developing the necessary skills to deliver the SW solutions in line with the business strategy. This position requires knowledge and experience of an enterprise-grade front-end and back-end applications, embedded systems, data acquisition, API development, user interfaces and at least one public cloud service such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or Google Cloud. The role reports directly to VP of Engineering and will be part of the Innovation´s Center´s Leadership Team. Your key deliverables : Provide leadership to a software team (20-30 employees) that designs, develops and does complete system testing and validation of IOT enabled products for residential and commercial product applications as per business requirements. Work directly with stakeholders (internal and external) and engineering to deliver high quality solutions Adopt and extend Eaton reusable software platforms to accelerate time to market Demonstrate a bias for re-use instead of building from scratch Trade-off make versus buy versus partner for all software development Create high-value software solutions though translating customer requirements to technical requirements Build and retain a high-performance software development team and continuously improve productivity, efficiency and modern software development practices Build and extend a set of Agile software development practices leveraging best practices within the company and the industry Inspire your team to stick to the product and engineering vision Supervise full life-cycle software development activities Demonstrate technical leadership and communicate technical features and requirements to non-technical functions to ensure buy-in across the organization Collaborate with Global R&D leaders to provide visibility on team accomplishments/costs and get roadmap directions Provide day to day guidance to engineers to ensure development and deployment is supported within the solution and consistent across multiple product platforms and be able to adjust the architecture as new requirements emerge Work closely with Eaton’s various Centers of Excellence around Software, UI/UX, Cloud, and Cybersecurity to ensure our solutions are aligned with corporate best practices Execute implementation of industry-leading cyber-security best practices to meet corporate standards and successfully pass cyber-security audits Work with internal groups and third-party solution providers to provide seamless integration with internal and third-party systems Provide technical leadership in proposing and adopting new technology solutions, tools, and processes Qualifications Required: Master’s degree in computer science or electronics 10+ years of hands-on experience in software and software enabled products 5+ years of leadership, people and talent management role Embedded products and systems and IoT solutions Cloud-based services and solutions (for example Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, or similar) Developing software solutions Wireless technologies (for example BLE, WiFI, or Z-Wave protocols) Mobile App Development Design and deployment of scalable and reliable system architectures SLDC and embedded product life cycle (Agile, Scrum) Versioning and PLM tools (Atlassian tools or similar), DevOps Innovation mindset demonstrated through patents, trade secrets or technology introduction experience Development of test strategies including manual and automated testing for web and mobile applications What Eaton offers: International team of professionals, opportunity to learn new technologies Focus on technology and innovation Roomy offices, excellent canteen, language courses, sport friendly environment Annual bonus, multisport card, office hours flexibility, private pension & nursery contribution and other benefits Flexible working hours (this position requires agreed office presence)
