Charity People are delighted to be partnering with WAVE Trust (WAVE), to find their next CEO to lead the organisation in the exciting next stages of the charity's development.
Dedicated to making the world safer by reducing the root causes of violence and child abuse, WAVE is a strategic international charity established in 1996. Founder and CEO, George Hosking, and his team have worked tirelessly, developing a highly respected name for WAVE as the UK's prime charity in the field of prevention, building a solid foundation based on remarkable results. WAVE is in an excellent position today - ready for a new CEO to carry on the mission to make large-scale social transformation a reality.

About the Role

WAVE is looking for a dynamic individual with management experience and a record of high achievement. The new CEO must have a passion for supporting victims of violence, including child abuse, neglect and domestic violence, with a commitment to driving the organisation towards its goal of 2030. WAVE is committed to achieving a 70% reduction in key Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) by 2030 - the 70/30 Initiative ('70/30').

The new CEO will work with WAVE's senior management team, a very engaged Board of Trustees, and key external stakeholders, to develop and implement the growth strategy of WAVE.
The new CEO will have the ability to engage with policy makers and a wide range of partners across the UK, maintaining WAVE's reputation as an independent organisation. He or she will be responsible for maintaining existing (and creating new) partnerships to continue growing WAVE's impact and influence. He or she will assume managerial and operational responsibility for developing WAVE's UK network of individuals, organisations and elected representatives working together towards achieving 70/30.

About You

Probably already operating as a CEO of a charity or Director of a large, multi-discipline team in a large charity, you will have extensive experience of managing the operations of a charity. You will be passionate, confident and engaging, with a truly collaborative leadership style. The new CEO will be responsible for ensuring that income generation targets are met, and will be expected to spearhead fundraising efforts, including direct involvement in the drafting of funding applications.
The new CEO will be ambitious and entrepreneurial, with energy and vision. The new CEO will have an inclusive and collaborative management style with an ability to communicate effectively and engage with staff, high-profile supporters, Trustees, 70/30 Ambassadors and our Council of Lived Experience.

To succeed in this role, you will:

* have a track record of achievement and problem solving.
* be an inspirational leader with skills, ideally gained at an organisation of comparable scale and complexity.
* be dynamic and keen to take on a new challenge.
* have a passion for reducing child maltreatment.
* be passionate about promoting the vision, mission and plans of WAVE.
* be committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive team environment.
* have direct experience of income generation and finance and show awareness of the challenge of funding the charity's operations.
* be confident, engaging, professional, and influential with the ability to represent WAVE in a public role.
* have experience dealing with local and national organisations and authorities, in both the statutory and voluntary sectors.
* be able to demonstrate empathy with children and people who have experienced adverse childhood experiences.
