Rating Analyst

The Role: Ratings Analyst The Location: Hong Kong The Role: You will be a critical member to Greater China insurance credit ratings team based in Hong Kong. You are responsible for analyzing individual insurance company’s financial performance, competitive industry placement and quality of management for analytical purposes. This analysis also includes insurance market developments and trends in Greater China region. The Impact: This will require the candidate to develop and maintain relationships with key market participants e.g. issuers, insurance intermediaries, investors, regulators. The candidate will also be actively involved in developing rating committee presentations, portfolio reviews, and commentaries. Your skills: We are seeking to recruit an analyst for Greater China Insurance ratings. We are looking for individual with strong analytical capability and communication skills. Responsibilities: Analyzing pertinent information and data necessary for rating determination on insurance companies and their debt issues Making recommendations and presenting to the rating committee Preparation of press releases, company specific reports and industry commentaries in a fast-paced environment with publication deadlines Effectively communicating to clients Standard & Poor's methodology and procedures Continuous monitoring of operating performance of the rated companies, including review of public filings, private information supplied by issuers, and participation in client meetings Meeting with issuers and investors on analytical matters and assisting in resolving clients' analytical needs Contributing to global and regional Standard & Poor's analytical forums, and publishing commentaries on their sectors Co-operate closely with analysts across the network within the region and global as well as occasionally with analysts from other practices (e.g. Financial Institutions, Sovereign, and Corporates, etc) Provide clients within the assigned portfolio of responsibilities with the highest level of professional service Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, finance, accounting, or related subjects Proficiency in Mandarin and English Pursuing CPA or CFA designation will be plus About 3 years of research or analytical experience preferred Strong Excel skills and ability to collate and analyze information Good organization skill and very high attention to detail Good time management and prioritization; manage competing priorities while maintaining high standards; and to work in a team.
