<p>
OBM have an excellent long-term overseas opportunity for an experienced Lifting Specialist - Wells to assist our client's Lifting Technical Authority in providing an independent perspective of Health and Safety Risk and to facilitate continual improvement in Health and Safety Performance.</p>
<p>
The work scope primarily includes acting as the focal point for assigned lifting activities for our client's Wells Department (Drilling rigs / Workover rigs / Well services) and supporting other departments when and where required.</p>
<p>
The large size of the site and the wide diversity of activities involving lifting operations makes this a challenging role which is responsible for facilitating safe and efficient lifting operations at all levels.</p>

<b><b>Roles &amp; Responsibilities</b></b></p>
<p>
<b><b>General</b></b></p>
<ul><li>Continually liaise with our client's LTA and departmental HSE Leadership to ensure client lifting, and handling standards are consistently respected and applied.</li><li>Work closely with Wells contractors to ensure technically acceptable lifting procedures and other related documentation.</li><li>Ensure all personnel involved in lifting operations have the required training, experience and competence to perform the category of lift.</li><li>Act as Client Lifting Representative for lifting operations on rig site and/or contractor facilities where client owned equipment will be lifted.</li><li>Mentoring and monitoring lifting processes, categorising lifts, hazard identification, risk evaluation, and professional analysis of lifting procedures.</li><li>Coach and mentor all Wells contractors and client staff alike with regards to lifting operations.</li><li>Sample a sufficient number of lifting operations to verify conformance with the Client Lifting Procedure.</li><li>Assist the client's LTA in the annual evaluation and review of approved third-party inspection and training companies where required.</li><li>Observe and assure the safety, procedural and legislative compliance of lifting operations.</li><li>Communicate potential lifting issues to Department Leadership before they impact business performance.</li><li>Apply and promote industry recommended best practice to all lifting operations.</li><li>Be an active member of the Lifting Community of Practice.</li><li>Participate in the Authorised to Operate (ATO) Assurance Program to ensure the safe operating condition of contractor mobile lifting appliances.</li><li>Ensure lifting accessories, equipment and machinery are fit for use and have the appropriate statutory documentation.</li><li>Ensure lift plans and risk assessments are developed and conducted for all lifting operations and ensure adequacy for safe and efficient execution.</li><li>Ensure lifting operations are executed as per the agreed method and make interventions where necessary.</li><li>Support lifting related incident investigations.</li><li>Ensure the risk of dropped objects is effectively managed with compliance to industry recommended best practices and procedures.</li></ul>

<ul><li>Identify opportunities to improve service delivery and suggest improvements / changes to the process where required;</li><li>Present a positive image of the company through first class service delivery and customer engagement;</li><li>Project support, eg procedural review or document suite creation.</li></ul>

<b><b>Administration</b></b></p>
<ul><li>Liaise with inter-departmental colleagues and management within the company reporting lines;</li><li>Maintain reports and targets as defined by management;</li><li>Timely response to client documentation requests.</li></ul>

<b><b>HSEQ</b></b></p>
<ul><li>Report on unsafe situations, incidents and other abnormalities, promote a positive health and safety culture whilst demonstrating safety leadership;</li><li>Ensure high standards of housekeeping are maintained;</li><li>Participate in HSEQ tasks, meetings and development as required by management;</li><li>Ensure all work is carried out in a safe manner, in accordance with AIMS and HSEQ procedures;</li><li>Support client systems and porcess;</li><li>Ensure that formal procedures, standing instructions and safety standards are complied with at all times;</li><li>Undertake Live Safe Interventions when appropriate;</li><li>Report non-compliances to appropriate persons;</li><li>Develop and communicate HSEQ process.</li></ul>

<b><b>Minimum Qualifications</b></b></p>
<ul><li>Appointed Person and/or Crane Supervisor (CPCS / NPORS or equivalent)</li><li>Loler Competent Person Assessment</li><li>Rigging Competency (EAL / OPITO / ECITB etc)</li><li>Banksman Slinger Competency (EAL / OPITO / ECITB / CPCS etc)</li><li>HNC / HND in Engineering or qualified by experience.</li></ul>

<b><b>Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours)</b></b></p>
<ul><li>Extensive demonstratable working experience in lifting operations at senior or supervisory level, preferably in the Middle East region.</li><li>Solid experience on Wells lifting operations &amp; protocols. Preferably supported onshore drilling rigs and rig-less wells services operations.</li><li>Land Rig Movement experience.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Demonstratable experience working with a variety of mobile/crawler cranes and other heavy lift equipment.</li><li>Demonstratable knowledge of HSE and lifting related international legislation, standards and industry best practices.</li><li>Proven health and safety leadership skills.</li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to distill key messages in a clear and concise manner.</li><li>Excellent analytical and organizational skills, along with good attention to detail.</li><li>Demonstratable knowledge of lifting equipment and accessories inspection and discard criteria.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a wide range of people through networking influencing, coaching and team-working.</li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.</li></ul>

<ul><li>Competence Assessor (OPITO/SQA or equivalent)</li><li>Mobile Crane Operator</li><li>Forklift Operator</li><li>MEWP Operator</li><li>IOSH Managing Safely</li><li>Basic to intermediate Computer Aided Design (CAD) skills.</li></ul>
