<p><span>Performs clerical and receptionist duties essential to the operation of patient care as directed and also receives instructions from physicians and nurses</span></p><br><b>Responsibilities</b><p><span><strong>A. Clinical/Technical/Service</strong></span></p><ul><li><span>Performs clerical and receptionist duties essential to the operation of patient care as directed and also receives instructions from physicians and nurses</span></li><li><span>Insures correct patient identification on all patient care medical record forms, documents and requisitions.</span></li><li><span>Maintains up-to-date patient rosters and staff assignments in Epic Bedtime and other demographic data in a timely manner (e.g., locator board, TPR, BP, weight book</span></li><li><span>Maintains a system for tracking the location of each patient on the unit.</span></li><li><span>Assigns RNs in Orchestrator as applicable</span></li><li><span>Maintains the Unit Staff Schedule for the shift, noting all breaks and coverage and assigned admissions either in paper or Epic Assignment Wizard</span></li><li><span>Schedules with appropriate departments and/or individuals, patient appointment, treatments, diagnostic procedures, etc.</span></li><li><span>Maintains neat and orderly bulletin boards. Posts and removes information appropriately in order to keep data current</span></li><li><span>Maintains a neat and orderly nurses’ station.</span></li><li><span>Responsible for maintenance of patients’ charts and removes selected excess pages from the patients’ charts and stores properly.</span></li><li><span>Files and/or staples laboratory and tests results into patients’ charts, (including computer print-outs)</span></li><li><span>Checks all patients’ charts daily for completeness, order and proper identity ( ie IMM forms, Patient Belongings List, CARE Act Authorizations form; Discharge Notice, Discharge Information, etc)</span></li><li><span>Performs a variety of duties relating to admission, discharge, death and/or transfer of patients in a timely manner in the EMR</span></li><li><span>Assist in patient flow by expediting the discharge status of patients in Epic/EMR and facilitating need for bed cleaning and assisting the nursing staff to take/receive hand off reports to accommodate admissions/discharges</span></li><li><span>Responsible for facilitating communication with the heath care team.</span></li><li><span>Assembles medical charts, prepares bed and door tags for admission</span></li><li><span>Requests from Medical Records, the old chart of re-admitted patients</span></li><li><span>Relays to other departments, relative information concerning admissions, transfers or discharges</span></li><li><span>Greets new admissions, introducing self and orienting patients to call system and physical facilities</span></li><li><span>Participates in safety initiatives on the unit to insure patient identification and zero harm</span></li><li><span>Maintains an up-to-date record of all patients who are discharged, deceased or transferred</span></li><li><span>Assists in the maintenance of par levels of supplies and equipment</span></li><li><span>Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned area</span></li></ul><p><span><strong>Age Specific Competencies</strong> (Neonate/Infant, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric)</span></p><ul><li><span>Identifies physical, behavioral and emotional characteristics typical for the age group</span></li><li><span>Modifies approaches based on patient age-specific needs and responses to treatment</span></li><li><span>Provides care for patients based on age-specific needs</span></li><li><span>Uses communication techniques which are age appropriate</span></li></ul><p><span><strong>B. Organizational/Managerial</strong></span></p><ul><li><span>Participates in the department’s performance improvement activities as demonstrated by active collection and logging of required data.</span></li><li><span>Maintains patient/employee confidentiality in the management of information</span></li></ul><p><span><strong>C. Educational/Professional Development</strong></span></p><ul><li><span>Participates in the development of other staff members</span></li><li><span>Meets regulatory, licensure and annual health assessment requirements</span></li></ul><p><span><strong>D.
