<br><b>Description</b><p><strong>Occupational Therapist-Psychiatry Inpatient 4R RV-Mount Sinai Rivington-Full Time, Days, Sunday-Thursday (One Day per Week 11:45am to 8pm)</strong></p><p> </p><p>The staff Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluating and treating patients and facilitating rehabilitation and independence. S/he develops and designs treatment plans for physically, mentally and/or emotionally disabled patients. The Occupational Therapist enables, enhances and improves patients ability to gain independent, productive daily living and working environments.</p><br><b>Responsibilities</b><p>1. Plan, organize, and conduct occupational therapy programs in hospital settings to help rehabilitate those impaired because of illness, injury or psychological or developmental problems.</p>
<p>2. Evaluates and establishes patients' physical and mental learning abilities and analyze medical data to determine realistic attainable rehabilitation goals within scope of patients disability.</p>
<p>3. Selects educational, recreational and social activities that will help individuals learn work and life-management skills within limits of their mental and physical capabilities.</p>
<p>4. Evaluates patients' progress and prepare reports that detail progress.</p>
<p>5. Documents therapy activities and maintains necessary records in patient files, assist in the evaluations and rehabilitation of assigned patients medical/psychiatric conditions by conferring with social worker, nurses and other disciplines.</p>
<p>6. Trains and educates caregivers how to provide for the needs of the patients during and after therapy.</p>
<p>7. Recommends changes in patients' work or living environments that is consistent with their needs and capabilities.</p>
<p>8. Develops and participate in health promotion programs, group activities, or discussions to promote client health, facilitate social adjustment, alleviate stress, and prevent physical or mental disability.</p>
<p>9. Consult with rehabilitation team to select activity programs and coordinate occupational therapy with other therapeutic activities such as vocational rehabilitation or social services based on psychological, physical or vocational needs.</p>
<p>10. Plan and implement programs and social activities to help patients learn work and school skills and adjust to handicaps</p>
<p>11. Attends clinic on biweekly basis to assist physicians with evaluation and treatment of clinic patients.</p>
<p>12. Corresponds with insurance companies to gain approval of adaptive equipment.</p>
<p>13. Performs other related duties.</p><br><b>Qualifications</b><ul>
<li>Masters degree in Occupational Therapy</li>
<li>0-2 years experience as Occupational Therapist</li>
<li>NYS active Occupational Therapy licensure</li>
<li>National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) preferred.</li>
</ul>
