Worker Safety & Health Instructor/Designer

HR is engaged in a transformational journey to help PNNL meet its talent acquisition and retention goals through innovative benefits, compensation, learning, and workforce programs.</p> <br><strong>Responsibilities</strong><br><br><p>This role is tasked with the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of Worker Safety & Health training program requirements as assigned. Common topics in this portfolio include lock-out tag-out, confined space entry, fall protection, forklift and aerial lift operations, rigging and lifting, respirator usage, and adult First Aid/AED/CPR. The training and qualification programs provided by this role enable staff to mitigate hazards during facility maintenance & operations and safely conduct research in alignment with PNNL’s mission.</p><p> </p><ul><li>Leverage proven instructional design techniques to analyze organizational needs and recommend appropriate learning solutions. Examples include conducting needs analyses for new equipment, regulatory updates, and addressing performance gaps.</li><li>Collaborate independently with Worker Safety & Health subject matter experts to design and develop effective training content that aligns with modern learning techniques, regulatory requirements, and PNNL-specific standards and expectations.</li><li>Deliver classroom, hands-on, and field-based instruction for assigned topics. This typically represents 50% of the role and includes planning and preparing for training sessions, delivering content in accordance with approved materials and safety standards, evaluating learning outcomes, and processing course completion data.</li><li>Evaluate training program effectiveness using data-driven techniques such as feedback collection, field observations, performance metrics, and supporting assessments or audits as needed.</li><li>Work collaboratively with department staff, including a peer instructor/designer, to coordinate day-to-day operations of the training program, maintain program health, and support continuous improvement.</li><li>Responsible and accountable for the tracking, notification and scheduling of all required training for staff and non-staff within assigned area of responsibility.</li><li>Accountable for the day-to-day operation and related functions of assigned area of responsibility to ensure timely completion of training according to stated regulations to maintain compliance.</li><li>Assists in the development of training plans for new staff members and transferred staff.</li><li>Provides guidance to staff and non-staff regarding applicable training requirements.</li><li>Prepares reports as requested and maintains accurate training records.</li><li>May be responsible for coordinating the completion of the Employee Job Task Analysis (EJTA).</li></ul> <br><strong>Qualifications</strong><br><br><p style=
