Responsibilities Ascension St. Vincent's Birmingham is looking for a Nurse Practitioner for our GI Hospitalist Group. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to partner with Ascension St. Vincent's to provide medical services to patients. Position Highlights: Big city metro amenities at their finest Outdoor recreation & excellent culture, live music, performing arts & fine dining options Beautiful state parks & water recreation Wonderful school systems and major universities Benefits offered for full time positions Responsibilities: Full time hours weekly to support the Physicians as needed Handles all Consults, ER Consults during the day and works closely with GI hospitalist to provide medical care. Covers nighttime call as first call. Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care. Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via referral to other healthcare providers or community resources. Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources. Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy. Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. Requirements Licensure/Certification/Registration: BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. Advanced Life Support certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) may be accepted in lieu of BLS Provider required. Certified Advanced Practice Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Drug Enforcement Admin credentialed from the Drug Enforcement Administration preferred. Education: Master's degree of Nursing required.
