<b>Primary Purpose of Job</b></p>

<p>&bull; Responsible for the monitoring and control of the movement of vessels within port and port limits, thus ensuring safe navigation and protection of the port. Collect and disseminate data for the Traffic Management and Information service (VTMIS) and ensures that all the electronic equipment within Port Control is operational and at 100% availability to ensure a smooth and efficient operation of the Port Control Tower.</p>

<b>Education</b></p>

<p>&bull; Deck Officer Certificate of Competency (no limitations) STCW II/1 or higher</p>

<p>&bull; Marine Radio Officer</p>

<p>&bull; Radio certification (GoC)</p>

<p>&bull; Radar / ARPA course certificate</p>

<p>&bull; IALA VTS Operator Certificate</p>

<b>Experience &amp; Skills</b></p>

<p>&bull; Min 3 years sea going (international merchant vessel or navy)</p>

<p>&bull; Min 2 years as VTS Operator</p>

<p>&bull; Ability to work effectively in a team, including the ability to respond to the needs of team members and provide them with assistance when required</p>

<p>&bull; Good working knowledge of computers and conversant with computer applications and communication equipment.</p>

<p>&bull; Ability to maintain confidentiality and to work with third parties and retain professional demeanor in confrontational situations.</p>

<p>&bull; Ability to carry out duties effectively and efficiently and according to defined objectives under minimal supervision.</p>

<p>&bull; Ability to monitor the operational and functional integrity of communications equipment, computer and navigational aids.</p>

<p>&bull; Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing in English, in order to be able to report adequately to superiors and to form good relations, negotiates and resolves conflicts with stakeholders.</p>

<p>&bull; Knowledge of maritime regulations and terminology.</p>
