PCB Designer

Position Overview The PCB Designer designs and develops printed circuit boards (PCB), working on component placement and routing. He or she coordinates and collaborates with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing, and test engineers. This position reports to the Center of Service’s Mechanical Design team manager. Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience Technical Educational background Good knowledge of mechanics of PCB fabrication Experience with double-sided designs with components on both sides of the PCB with understanding of impacts to manufacturability Knowledge of industry standards for trace widths and spacing in accordance with IPC-2222 standards Good teamwork and communications skills Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred 2-year degree acceptable with applicable experience but 4-year degree preferred 3+ years’ direct experience preferred Experience with creepage and clearance (e.g., for high voltage designs) Experience with digital, analog, and mixed signal designs with exposure to high-speed routing techniques preferable (e.g., length matching, differential pairs) Experience with designing for EMC/EMI is a plus Experience with design for testability is a plus
