Title: Nursing Care Technician - AKH - Phillips Ambulatory Surgery Pacu - MSBI/Downtown - Full-Time M-F 1:00pm-9:15pm Department: AKH - Phillips Ambulatory Surgery Pacu Hospital: MSBI/Downtown Schedule: Full-Time M-F 1:00pm-9:15pm Job Summary: Participates and supports the health team in the direct patient care under the supervision of an RN/LPN. Performs routine maintenance/cleaning of equipment and instruments. Performs any and all duties involving direct patient care as assigned by the RN/LPN within the framework of the New York State Nurse Practice Act and BIMC Policy and Procedures Roles & Responsibilities: Takes and monitors vital signs Takes patient history and documents in the chart Performs phlebotomy and labels the vials Properly fills out all blood and specimen requisitions Notifies appropriate personnel regarding any malfunction in equipment Assists in inventory control for medical supplies Collects and labels specimens Stocks exam rooms including educational materials Retrieves lab, pathology and diagnostics data from the computer systems Translates as needed Provides instruction and information to patients Retrieves phone messages and returns call in timely manner Transports patients and equipment as needed Complies with hospital and departmental policies and procedures Provides and promotes unit safety Requirements: High School diploma or GED required. The salary range for the role is $24.62 - $25.94 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need.
