Read more: careers.bms.com/working-with-us BMS seeks an individual with a passion for designing and implementing data and knowledge management and governance solutions that will enable our initiatives in Research. This role interfaces with research/computational scientists, data engineers, and developers to understand the domain and provide data architecture, graph modeling, and detail design for key strategic initiatives. Working with a variety of data sets, you will iteratively define our graph data model, create ontologies, and provide integration patterns with data pipelines that will incorporate data streaming into our knowledge graph. This position requires knowledge of graph architecture, modeling and the ability to understand business user requirements and architect a solution to meet the business objectives. What you’ll do Architect our content space, data, and enrichment techniques to enable us to leverage the data we have in recommending relevant content to users for improved project outcomes Develop strategies, tactics, and designs to propel us to the next generation of information findability including search, analytics, and recommenders Recommend and implement use of various enrichment techniques (including taxonomies, dictionaries, models, entity extraction, data mining, topic modeling, etc.) Collaborate frequently with research scientists, computational scientists, data stewards, terminology experts, data engineers, and developers Communicate strategies, ideas, goals, value, and progress to stakeholders Document and deliver architecture artifacts Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and 10+ years of academic / industry experience OR Master's Degree and 8+ years of academic / industry experience OR PhD and 6+ years of academic / industry experience Preferred Experience: 5+ years of experience in information technology/knowledge management, including gathering requirements for content and structure of data and information Experience with developing standards for content assembly and metadata schema Experience with developing and operationalizing knowledge management frameworks Experience with architecting a vision and strategic direction for the development of a knowledge management platform Ability to create information structures that promote the discovery and reuse of content in multiple context Familiarity with the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) data guiding principles, public biomedical ontologies and standards consortiums (e.g., BioPortal, MedDRA, MeSH, CDISC, Allotrope) Excellent written and verbal communication, ability to work independently and within a team, and exemplary critical thinking, analytical skills, and judgment Experience translating project requirements to both business process solutions and technical solutions Experience with utilizing data modeling software tools to develop a roadmap for organizing and managing data Familiarity with common development processes including agile The starting compensation for this job is a range from $159,000-$185,000, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility). The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and the where the job is performed.
