Principal Designer - Offshore (Control & Instrumentation)

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Ensure Control & Instrumentation design of assigned Offshore Project as per India Operations systems. Carry out Control & Instrumentation design of assigned Offshore Project at India Operations and at assigned locations. <br><br><li> Ensure that the content and objective of the Health, Safety, Security, Environmental and Quality Policy and the Information Security policies are implemented and understood by all supervised staff. </li><li> Ensure the execution of project work, in accordance with the Discipline Design Instructions, contractual requirements including Wood Group, India Operations and / or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control, within the man-hour and cost budgets and the project schedule targets. </li><li> Direct and control the discipline personnel assigned to project. Assignment of specific tasks for the personnel during the project execution. Highlight the updation requirements in existing procedures. Also issue MPP based on workload. </li><li> Review project schedules with the Dy. Manager / Chief Engineer / Chief Specialist to verify that all dates and project requirements are realistic. </li><li> Prepare project specific standards and job notes. </li><li> Set up and operate the appropriate sections of Document Management System. </li><li> Prepare and maintain a Drawing Index for all Instrumentation Design Drawings, indicating planned and actual issue dates inclusive of the various revisions. </li><li> Design preparation, production and approval of instrument drawings as appropriate. </li><li> Review and approve air distribution schedules, instrument cable block diagrams, cable and drum schedules, cable racking / routing drawings, earthing philosophy drawings, instrument representation on the model, loop drawings and termination detail drawings </li><li> Review and comment on drawings and ensure that the quality of design drawings produced for enquiry and fabrication purposes is of satisfactory standard and in accordance with the relevant Client and Wood Group, India Operations specifications. </li><li> Comment on other discipline drawings and specifications where relevant. Review and approve the instrument interface drawings applicable to mechanical and electrical interface. </li><li> Review package supplier drawings as requested by the Instrument Engineer responsible for the equipment. </li><li> Using the instrument database and project specifications / standards, produce instrument hook-up drawings and instrument installation detail drawings. </li><li> Produce, review and approve instrument location drawings based on the instrument database, EFD's and plant layout drawings. </li><li> Develop, review / provide input on the 3D Model to clarify instrument requirements on the model inclusive of cable racking, junction boxes, air headers and field instrument placements. </li><li> Produce, review instrument loop diagrams and termination schedules utilising the SPI database. </li><li> Maintain the instrument design database and drawing register in a current project state. </li><li> Review instrument requisitions for instrument cable and junction boxes. </li><li> Prepare and review Instrument design MTO. </li><li> Liaise with engineers to ensure design intent on various projects is implemented. </li><li> Advise the Dy. Manager / Chief Engineer / Chief Specialist of any slippages, their cause and proposed correction, corrective or improvement action. </li><li> Advise the Dy. Manager / Chief Engineer / Chief Specialist of any technical problems and unresolved differences with other disciplines. </li><li> Notify the Dy. Manager / Chief Engineer / Chief Specialist of all deficiencies in the flow of data or other basic information required for execution of work. </li><li> Assist the Dy. Manager / Chief Engineer / Chief Specialist with estimates, progress assessment and control of manpower on assigned projects. </li><li> Suggest ways to improve efficiency, costs and service in the execution of projects. </li><li> Keep abreast of developments in the Instrument Engineering field. </li><li> Perform any other duties assigned within reason by the Dy. Manager / Chief Engineer / Chief Specialist. </li><li> Highlight as applicable to Dy. Manager / Chief Engineer / Chief specialist / Lead Engineer regarding change flags </li><li> Ensure effective & efficient inter discipline co-ordination including client co-ordination. </li><li> Support in proposal activities as requested. </li><li> Assist Training co-ordinator in conducting training programs. </li> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><b> PROJECT EXECUTION </b><br><br> Have an in-depth knowledge of C&I quality plan, workflows, procedures and execution strategies. Without supervision, be able to achieve a high standard in technical planning of the C&I Design scope of work on a Project using Wood Group / India Operations / Client procedures and in line with Project requirements <br><br><b> C&I GENERAL DESIGN </b><br><br> Have an in-depth knowledge of International Codes & Standards and General C&I Design. Able to execute all aspects of General C&I Design to a high standard without supervision. Guide and coach others to achieve a high standard of C&I General Design using Wood Group, India Operations and Client standards and in line with Project requirements. <br><br><b> CONTROL SYSTEM DESIGN </b><br><br> Have an in-depth knowledge of principles used for Control System Design while assigned for system activities. Be able to develop control system design deliverables for complex applications. Guide and coach others to achieve a high standard of Control System Design deliverables using Wood Group, India Operations and Client standards and in line with Project requirements. Leads interface liaison with other disciplines (architectural, electrical) to ensure compatibility with Control System Design requirements. <br><br><b> FIELD INSTRUMENTATION DESIGN </b><br><br> Have an in-depth knowledge of principles used for Field Instrument Design. Be able to develop field instrument design deliverables for complex applications. Guide and coach others to achieve a high standard of Field Instrument design deliverables using Wood Group, India Operations and Client standards and in line with Project requirements. Leads interface liaison with other disciplines (piping, civil, electrical, mechanical) to ensure compatibility with Field Instrument design requirements. <br><br><b> CONSTRUCTION & COMMISSIONING SUPPORT </b><br><br> Have an in-depth knowledge of Construction Execution and the roles of C&I Site Field Designers. Be able to lead a C&I Site Field Design team at site. Guide and coach others to achieve a high standard of C&I Site Field Design to support Construction. <br><br><b> C&I DESIGN TOOLS </b><br><br> Have an in-depth knowledge C&I Design tools and be able to select correct tools to maximise the efficiency of C&I Design execution on a project or is a super user user/ administrator of one or more of the tools and guides and coaches' others to use the tools to deliver a high standard of Control and Instrumentation Design. <br><br><b> COMMERCIAL AWARENESS AND CUSTOMER FOCUS </b><br><br> Fully conversant with C&I norms and able to produce high quality C&I estimates for proposals with minimum supervision. Has an in-depth knowledge of the project drivers for various types of projects, including India Operation's commercial position and objectives. Manages technical input and delivers C&I design and deliverables in line with India Operations commercial objectives. Is customer focused and resolves customers' needs or issues without sacrificing India Operation's objectives. <br><br><b> CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT </b><br><br> Proactively looks for deficiencies and improvements to the established Wood Group, India Operations and Project standards and methods to ensure problems are identified and solved in a controlled and timely manner to the satisfaction of all stake holders. Drives for improvements in individuals and project teams.
