Mechanical Engineer, Maintenance & Reliability - Carseland, AB<br><br>This is a temporary assignment to support the preparation and execution of the 2024 plant turnaround. Contract Dates: March 2023- December 2024<br><br>The Mechanical Engineer, Maintenance & Reliability reports to the Senior Supervisor, Reliability and responsible for support of operation and maintenance concerns that arise from operations, maintenance, and inspection activities. What you will do:<br><br>* Support operations and maintenance departments with troubleshooting and resolving issues related to stationary equipment<br> * Provide technical support to the inspection team regarding damage mechanisms, inspection findings and repair plans<br> * Complete Fit-for-Service (FFS) evaluations and provide oversight of external engineering FFS<br> * Oversight of structural analysis completed by third-party engineering<br> * Oversight and familiarity with piping stress analysis as per relevant codes and standards<br> * Provide subject matter expert technical support for capital projects and other plant changes.<br> * During the execution phase of the 2024 plant turnaround (estimated 8 week duration) you will:<br> o Work an extended shift (Typically 12.5 hours - 6 days per week)<br> o May be required to work nightshift<br> o Support found work related to stationary equipment<br> ? Tmin, FFS evaluations<br> ? Assess damage and make repair recommendations<br> ? Review repair work packages<br> ? Review hydro testing waivers<br><br>Technical Experience & Training:<br> * Pressure vessel and piping codes<br> o ASME B31.1 & B31.3<br> o ASME PCC-1 & ASME PCC-2<br> o ASME Section VIII Section I<br> o Familiar with NDT inspection techniques<br> * API 579-1/ASME FFS-1 Fitness-For-Service Evaluation<br><br>Familiarity with:<br> o API 571/RP 571 - Corrosion and Materials<br> o API 510 - Pressure Vessel Inspector<br> o API 570 - Piping Inspector o API 580 - Risk Based Inspection<br> o API 650 - Design Code for Aboveground Atmospheric Storage Tanks<br> o API 653 - Tank Inspection, Repair, Alteration<br> o Industry relevant NACE and WRC Bulletins<br><br>* Experience with Alberta regulatory requirements for pressure equipment (ABSA) such as but not limited to<br> o AB-513<br> o AB-506<br> oAB-519<br> o AB-535<br> o AB-525<br> o AB-516<br><br>What you will bring:<br> * Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering<br> * Professional Engineer registered with APEGA or previous registration with a Canadian Professional Engineering Association<br> * 5 years of relevant mechanical experience with petrochemical facilities<br> * Outstanding organizational and problem-solving skills.<br> * Attention to detail<br><br>Communication and leadership abilities Safety Related Training Required:<br> * Confined Space Entry<br> * Fall Protection PPE Required:<br> * CSA safety footwear. (Above ankle height)<br> * Foam Backed Safety glasses<br> * FRC clothing<br> * Hardhat Other specialized PPE will be supplied by Client<br><br>Schedule: * 9/80 - alternating Fridays off (M-F & M-Th)<br> * Extended work hours for the 2024 plant turnaround (See note above) Physical Demands:<br> * This role involves consistent access to an industrial facility.
