Evaluating well and implementing the deals to maximize the value of the collaborations is a critical success factor for GSK. An important focus on project management in this area facilitates success in our collaborations and partnerships. The Executive Director Pipeline Project Management for Business Development and Partnerships is accountable for leading all project management activities related to Business Development deals pre-diligence, during due-diligence and governance phase, during the contracting phase and then during the implementation or integration phase for tech transfer. The role works in close collaboration with the Heads of Business Development and Alliance Management and is accountable to develop fit-for-purpose processes for these projects, and to build and manage the best team possible of Pipeline Project Managers who will be dedicated to due-diligence, tech transfer and key partnerships projects. The role has accountabilities for working with each Pipeline Project Manager, and with key stakeholders to ensure the quality and robustness of the integrated development plans that will be developed for governance, and for the planning and the execution of the tech transfer plan. Post deal signature, the team also supports several projects where the dimension of collaboration with other partners is high. All the projects for our Global Health unit are also managed by this team. Alongside the drugs development knowledge and technical project management expertise, the Head PPM Business Development and Partnerships has many years of experience with due-diligences and alliances management. The role leads a team from 15 to 30 Pipeline Project Managers, mainly Senior Managers and Director levels. Key Responsibilities: In this rewarding and visible role, the Head Pipeline Project Management for Business Development and Partnerships will:     Build and Engage a best-in-class Team of Pipeline Project Managers and create the conditions for the team to thrive.       Provide oversight to the pipeline of projects and take responsibility for the delivery on plan, on budget, and on timelines performance.     Pre-diligence: support Business Development as needed with ballpark costs/duration estimates for potential projects plans and business cases.  During due-diligence and governance phase: Ensure each project approaching governance have been through solid scenario planning with refined costs and duration assumptions, strong risks assessment and tech transfer planning.  During the contracting phase: support Business Development as needed in reviewing the contract and ensuring inclusion of information related to tech transfer obligation to support smooth implementation of deals.  During the implementation or integration phase: support tech transfer implementation and assist Pipeline Project Managers on project teams as needed and for sure when they come onboard.  Provide a sense of urgency and pressure test the plans to ensure they are the best and the fastest it can be.  Oversee the key risks across the pipeline, share them with peers for trends analysis and escalate as appropriate for mitigation. Ensures all the major risks have a contingency plan as relevant.  Take responsibility for the overall performance of the Partnerships pipeline, ensuring the collection of projects is delivered on time, and on budget.     As relevant, work with the Medicine Development Teams to challenge the projects plans and help them defining acceleration opportunities.     Drive acceleration workshops where the assumptions of the plan are challenged and dig in into every opportunity to evaluate what it will take to deliver faster.  Work with the project teams and the management to remove blockers and enable acceleration.  Provide insights to the R&D leaders to enable decision-making at pipeline level.     Maintain awareness of the Business Development business plan and ongoing deals, and broader GSK R&D business.   Provide Business Development and Partnerships projects' delivery status and insight to business unit partners and senior leaders to support oversight and decision-making.  Partner closely with the Head(s) of Business Development and Alliance Management, and Finance partner(s).     Lead the development of optimized processes for PPM and act as a PPM Leadership Team member.     Be a member of the core PPM Leadership Team.  Stay current with Project Management tools and methodologies in GSK and in the pharmaceutical industry.  Support the development and implementation of strategies to establish and maintain Project Management capability (tools, processes, ways of working, knowledge, skills) to enable GSK R&D to deliver its pipeline effectively and productively.   Participate to external conference to learn from others, share best practices and represent GSK in industry dialogues.  Job related Experience: Proven credibility with R&D leaders as well as Strategic Partners at executive level.  Given the complexity of the organization and of drugs or Vaccines development plans, across multiple countries and functions, the Head PPM Business Development and Partnerships is central is running deep dives with matrix team and senior leaders to solve complex issues and react fast to changes in environment. Comfortable working in ambiguity where a pathway may not be clear, understanding desired outcomes, defining problem statements, and deploying in partnership interventions to seek capability build and continual improvement. Basic Qualifications Successfully completed Advanced degree in Life Science MSc or MPharm Several years of experience in drugs/vaccines development, with experience across multiple assets (track records of project managing large development projects managed in a large pharma and/or biotech across phases). Vast experience in leading large global and diverse teams of Project Managers. Experience with Business Development due diligences and Alliance projects with complex partnerships. Experience in several pharma R&D functions (CMC, Clinical Development and/or Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs, etc.). Experience in developing strategic recommendations highly relevant to the therapeutic area and in working with senior leadership teams to identify novel solutions to both project-specific and portfolio wide issues. Proven experience in Project Management with direct experience in drugs global projects planning and execution. Proven track records of driving acceleration of projects plan, by challenging to function on planned timelines to develop accelerated plan. Deep multi-disciplinary biopharmaceutical drugs development knowledge. Advanced understanding of CMC/product development, Clinical Development Plan and projects plan requirements, including filing expectations (FDA/EMA), Regulatory strategies and Submission plan. Extensive Matrix Leadership experience. Preferred Qualifications Education qualification PhD/MD and/ or MBA Pharmaceutical drug development certification.  Project/Program Management Professional (PMP or equivalent).  Strong experience with project management tools such as Planisware and/or MS Project, and computer proficiency. Ability to foster a strong collaborative spirit internally and externally. Strong business awareness and In-depth understanding of several of the drugs development phases. Experience working independently with senior executives and the ability to quickly build personal credibility and assimilate business issues/need.
