Manager, Technical Operations

Who are we hiring? The Manager, Technical Operations is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of building systems and event technology at MSG Sphere. The Manager will participate in operational planning and commissioning activities prior to the opening of the new state-of-the-art venue. Once open, the Manager will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations including maintenance of architectural lighting, audio, IPTV, digital signage, and CCTV systems. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Technical Operations, the Manager will oversee any Technical Operations technicians and contract staff as required for events. What will you do? Works collaboratively with the Sr. Manager of Technical Operations to execute standard operating procedures for operating and maintaining MSG Sphere AV and building systems. Coordinate with Design & Construction during the installation/construction, and commissioning phases on Sphere Responsible and accountable for the operation and maintenance of building systems and event technology at MSG Sphere once venue opens. Coordinates with the CMMS & Digital Operations Manager on department inventory and transfer of attic stock to and from the warehouse for daily operations Able to efficiently troubleshoot problems while making solutions-oriented decisions and communicate processes/results to stakeholders. Staffing/Leadership Participates in hiring staff of the Technical Operations team and supervises team to execute all maintenance programs and event requirements. The team will provide event coverage and support once the venue opens. Schedule and supervise labor for special events through outside contractors as required for special event staffing. Assist in the planning and tracking of budgets related to internal and 3rd party labor requirements. What do you need to succeed? To qualify for the role, you must have: 4-5 years of progressive experience in AV systems management, broadcast, venue technology, or a related field. Technical knowledge of IPTV systems including experience with video distribution, scheduling, content management systems, and related equipment. Experience with LED video systems including service and maintenance of screen components and use of control systems. Must be proficient in the safe use of trade related tools and equipment Ideally, you’ll also have: Candidates who have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred. Knowledge of open architecture audio DSP systems, Q-SYS preferred. Basic understanding of networking including TCP/IP, UDP, IP addressing, subnetting, routing, and multicast Ability to effectively troubleshoot technical systems with staff in a timely manner; has a proven track record of successfully supervising a team in a complex, fast passed environment Knowledge of basic electrical theory and safety practices as well as experience with networked architectural lighting systems. (ie: ETC Paradigm, sACN, DMX, DALI, 0-10v systems) Working knowledge of rigging, safety equipment, and protocols (to be used for access and maintenance of venue systems and equipment) along with 2 way radio systems, CCTV and IP cameras. Windows/PC proficient and experience using Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Professional and Bluebeam. Experience in viewing CAD and/or 3D modeling. Possess strong oral and written communication skills and remain well organized and detail oriented. Possesses an ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality. Commitment to providing a high-quality service experience for both internal and external clients. SUPERVISION: Direct supervision of: Technical Operations staff. Third-party contractors for special events. Indirect supervision of: Building Electricians Production Video, Lighting, Audio, Rigging Technicians SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB: Ability to work at height (upwards of 200’-300’+) on interior and exterior catwalks and on building maintenance unit. Ability to operate arial equipment (scissor lift, boom lift) Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required. May have split days off OSHA 30 General Industry certification Must possess a valid drivers license and be able to operate a company vehicle within the Las Vegas area Frequent bending and lifting required.
