NJVC approaches the work with the intensity expected of a mission-critical IT provider, working within the framework of people, processes, and technologies to meet customer requirements. The DOT (Department of Transportation) Enterprise Information Technology Shared Services (EITSS) supports the department’s office of the chief information officer in developing and implementing an enterprise IT infrastructure and common operating environment across DOT. The contract still has 5 years left. NJVC is currently looking for a Microsoft System Administrator that will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Windows server infrastructure. The Microsoft System Administrator will primarily work in a virtualized environment. Responsibilities Work you’ll do As a Microsoft System Administrator within the DOT (Department of Transportation) Enterprise Information Technology Shared Services (EITSS) team, you will: Manage daily IT applications operations, including time/attendance, workload management, training, mentoring, reporting, communications, and performance. Engage in customer relationships and workload/portfolio management with clients and end users. Coordinate engineering projects, tasks, and troubleshooting across multiple teams. Work cooperatively with federal and contractor service desk, Incident Management Center, Desktop Engineering, Executive Help Engineering, Application Hosting, and Infrastructure Engineering teams ensuring successful customer service, troubleshooting, resolution, restoration, provisioning, and availability of Mail and MDM services. Manage incident requests and restorations based on urgency, impact, priority, and Service Level Agreements, including assessment, assignment, queue monitoring, resolution, and closure. Ensure timely fulfillment of requested Mail and MDM services for role-based access, permissions, specialized communications, distribution groups, availability, and functionality. Coordinate change and release of Mail and MDM services, functions, patches, and upgrades in production, including design, architecture, configuration, staffing, scheduling, impact/risk analysis, approval, communications, testing, implementation, monitoring, and operations. Deliver troubleshooting, issue diagnosis, usability, and utilization of Mail and MDM services through knowledge articles, training, and demonstration. Follow critical incidents, events, problems, configuration, and change management to troubleshoot and restore services caused by outages and defects. Engage in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and applying workarounds and resolutions with IT Application Hosting and Infrastructure teams and third-party product vendors. Assess security vulnerabilities and incidents and devise with other team members to implement patches, upgrades, and e-mail blocking remediation reducing threats and risks. Assess and report performance, access, licensing, and capacity and recommend solutions. Participate in 24/7 rotation of on-call support. Manage and report on daily operations driving deliverables, managing expectations, communications, risk management, and reporting to all stakeholders. Work with server, network, database, and storage administrators for routine operations. Participate in disaster recovery, documentation, and testing. Create, update, and maintain designs, architectures, data profiles, licenses, support agreements, standard operating procedures, work instructions, and knowledge articles. Routinely and effectively communicate through multiple channels and stakeholders. Be a highly cohesive team member and a change agent while serving as a consultant. Other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience administrating and managing servers and systems, cloud infrastructure, file, and print environments, specializing in Windows operating systems Must possess a Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) - Server Infrastructure or equivalent experience Background check and the ability to obtain a Public Trust Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work Thursday & Friday 7A-3:30P and Saturday & Sunday 7A-7P. Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting. Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time-related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals. Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others. Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications. Experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues. Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone with good phone skills and a professional demeanor. Previous customer service experience strongly desired. Good problem-solving skills with the ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it. Proven ability to perform design, configuration, integration, testing, release, maintenance, and support of Microsoft O365 cloud, Exchange 2013, Azure, Office suite, and Outlook applications, and One Drive for Business & Microsoft Security & Compliance. Proven ability to perform design, configuration, testing, release, maintenance, and support of Microsoft In Tune with Apple Business Manager integration. Effective customer relationship and workload/portfolio management with federal and contractor leadership and end users for delivery of Mail and MDM services.
