<b>Intermediate/Senior Business Analyst - Environmental Regulatory Compliance (ERC)<br> Location: Calgary; Remote if based outside of Calgary only. </b><br> <b>Contract: 12 months, initially</b><br><br><b>Overview/Background:</b><br><br>Our client is hiring a business-focused business analyst for the Environmental Regulatory Compliance (ERC) project. Business Analysts could be assigned to business process, continuous improvement, business transformation and/or information technology initiatives. Initiatives will be enhancing the ability of finance, supply chain, security, health and safety, regulatory and data management business functions to improve their business process and deliver on their accountabilities.<br> The ideal candidate will have experience with identifying the needs of the business, eliciting business requirements, facilitating workshops to derive the overall direction it should take to succeed, developing process descriptions and procedural documentation, building workflows, documenting standards and policies. It is also important for the candidate to have experience and strength in managing complex business scenarios and dynamic stakeholder groups and ensuring effective synchronizations between competing corporate initiatives.<br> This opportunity will appeal to an individual who enjoys working as an individual and in a team environment, who has ability and experience of working with PM to gain senior leader's buy-in, and who demonstrates effective strategic and critical thinking, problem-solving and facilitation skills, is adaptable and able effectively complete deliverables in a timely fashion. This Business Analyst will also utilize standard best practices as required to support the activity execution, and has a key understanding of transition to operations, and development of processes and procedures.<br> This role will report to the project manager and work closely business/functional areas and project team members.<br> <br><b>Level of Experience:</b><br><br>Intermediate (6 - 12 years)<br> Senior (12 years)<br><br><b>Work Environment:</b><br> <ul> <li>Downtown Calgary office. Remote may be an option for those outside of Calgary only</li> <li>Must be able to perform work 8:00am-5:00pm Mountain Time</li> </ul> <br><b>Responsibilities:</b><br> <ul> <li>Lead and participate in process reviews or development and updates to or creation of associated documentation working with stakeholders</li> <li>Participate in standards and process creation, reviews, updates, development and documentation</li> <li>Deliver and/or participate in standards, policies or process education and awareness</li> <li>Successfully engage, drive and facilitate multiple initiatives and deliverables simultaneously</li> <li>Work independently with users to define concepts or workflows and under direction of project managers</li> <li>Develop requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language</li> <li>Collaborate with project team members including subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze trade-offs between usability and performance needs</li> <li>Be the liaison between the project teams, technology teams and support teams</li> <li>Manage and execute on required stakeholder and client engagement across project deliverables to support project plan and scope outline</li> <li>Collaborate with project team members to progress the project forward as per project plan and scope outline</li> <li>Manage and participate in Transition to Operations scope and activities for services and/or products built by the project team</li> <li>Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis</li> <li>Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs</li> <li>Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: functional requirements (business requirements document), use cases, workflow diagrams, and context diagrams</li> </ul> <br><b>Capabilities:</b><br><br>To ensure the effective execution of responsibilities, the Business Analyst should demonstrate a high proficiency in the following key technical and behavioural competencies:<br> <ul> <li>Strategic thinking</li> <li>Analytical/critical thinking</li> <li>Problem solving</li> <li>Decision making</li> <li>System (big picture) thinking</li> <li>Industry knowledge</li> <li>Ability to understand the business architecture being analyzed</li> <li>Solution knowledge</li> <li>Verbal communication</li> <li>Written communication</li> <li>Facilitation & negotiation</li> <li>Influence without authority</li> <li>Teamwork</li> </ul> <br><br> <b>Qualifications:</b><br> <ul> <li>Must be legally entitled to work in Canada</li> <li>At least 6-12 years of demonstrated working experience as a Business Analyst role (or similar)</li> <li>Proven experience with use case and 'day in the life' scenario development</li> </ul> <br><br> <b>Additional Requirements:</b><br><br>Experience:<br> <ul> <li>Oil & Gas experience - an asset</li> <li>Regulatory Compliance experience - an asset</li> </ul> <br><b>About Petroplan</b><br> <br>Petroplan is the trusted, specialist global Talent Solutions partner of choice for employers and professionals in the Energy sector.
