Health System Operations Health Systems & Process Improvement Engineer II The Health Systems and Process Improvement Engineer II supports, develops, and executes projects coordinated by the Office of Strategic and Business planning. Reporting to the Director of Health Systems and Process Improvement at The Mount Sinai Health System, HSPI Engineer II provides independent complex analytical and project management support to the system’s hospitals’ staff and leadership. Utilizing a wide range of state of the art process improvement and industrial engineering methodologies including, but not limited to, statistical analysis, automation, forecasting, quality control, operations research, lean/six sigma, facility planning, and scheduling, this individual assists senior level management in operating more efficiently and effectively. The HSPI Engineer II is also responsible for developing and administering performance improvement training curriculum as part of The Mount Sinai Health System’s continuous improvement culture. Roles & Responsibilities: Supports the design, management, and execution of performance improvement and operational analytics initiatives through all phases utilizing core industrial engineering principles May independently lead less complex initiatives as directed by the Office of Strategic and Business Planning May be responsible for scoping strategic initiatives, acquiring stakeholder buy-in and leadership support, and establishing metrics, milestones, and requirements Creates and updates project plans, action items, and meeting minutes Utilizes expertise in industrial engineering to appropriately identify the correct design and approach for initiatives and complex analytical problems Coordinates data collection, validation, analysis, assessment, and visualization through both physical observations and system reporting Develops, tests, and deploys automated analytics tools to support strategic initiatives May coordinate activities of Health Systems and Process Improvement team members supporting initiatives Prepares documents, diagrams, and presentations to illustrate findings. May present to all levels of staff and leadership Performs independent complex data analysis to support leadership decision making. Types of data analysis include but are not limited to: process measures and performance metrics, scheduling, labor and productivity, quality measures, patient satisfaction measures, demographic analysis, and equity measures Develops effective and trusting working relationships with all levels of staff including but not limited to front line staff, administrators, and physician leaders. May create and administer didactic training curriculum on performance improvement and analytics tools. May administer training to all levels of the organization. Provides technical direction and support to all levels of the Health Systems and Process Improvement department in order to expand the technical expertise of the department May publish or present technical papers on process improvement work to share with industry Maintains current knowledge of health care delivery trends and evidence-based solutions for improving the delivery of care and services Performs other duties as required Requirements: Bachelors’ degree in industrial engineering, or related field Masters preferred 0-2 years’ experience in systems and process improvement operations management or similar field (greater than 2 years preferred Certification and/or working knowledge of Lean/ Six Sigma methodologies Lean certification preferred MS office Suite (Advanced) Proficient in the use of statistical software and programming languages (Minitab, R, Python, etc.) Experience with SQL database design and maintenance Strength Through Diversity The Mount Sinai Health System believes that diversity, equity, and inclusion are key drivers for excellence. The salary range for the role is $79,720.00 - $119,580.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
