Mechanical Technician

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Technician with experience in the mining and minerals industry on large capital projects. <br><br>Job Objective: <br><ul><li> To learn, understand and absorb the necessary knowledge to become a competent administrator/draftsman whose main role is to perform basic CAD tasks, Data Capturing and Administrative work. </li></ul><br> Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities: <br><ul><li> Technical Design Ability - Under supervision completes technical design work using relevant Wood design methods, Client and Corporate standards and specifications and data in line with Project requirements. </li><li> Produces, under the guidance of the project leads, Technical Documents, Conduct Data Capturing, Technical Document Management and Filing of Mechanical/Piping Engineering Templates. </li><li> Receives training in AutoCAD </li><li> Receives training in Aveva E3D </li><li> Receives training in corporate procedures and systems. </li><li> Receives instruction and guidance to broaden knowledge base and experience of design activities. </li><li> Receives exposure to other disciplines within the organisation including site construction activities to broaden knowledge base and experience. </li><li>Perform such duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Chief Designer or Chief Project Engineer</li></ul><br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><b> Qualifications: </b> <br><ul><li> Matric with Techincal Drawing or National Engineering Diploma </li></ul><br> <b> Desirable </b> <br><ul><li> 0-2 year's minimum related industry experience in engineering draughting, or data capturing. </li><li> MS Office competent. </li></ul><br> <b> Knowledge, skills and experience: </b> <br><ul><li> <b> Technical Expertise - </b> Continuously work towards improving and updating technical abilities. Will personally seek out opportunities to develop technical knowledge base. </li><li> <b> Cross Discipline Project Team Interaction - </b> Appreciation of project set up and team structure across disciplines. Under guidance working with other discipline designers. </li><li> <b> Cross Discipline Project Team Interaction - </b> Proactively works with other discipline designers/engineers. </li><li> <b> Understanding and meeting Schedule and Schedule dependencies </b> - Accountable for deliverable production to suit project schedule. </li><li> <b> Commercial Awareness and Customer Focus </b> - demonstrates increasing customer (client) focus, be aware of and responsive to customer (client) needs without sacrificing the project and Corporate objectives. </li><li> Ability to take action consistent with available facts, constraints and anticipated consequences. </li><li> <b> Interpretation of Engineering Requirements - </b> Takes responsibility for quality of the interpretation.
