Roles & Responsibilities: Located in New York City at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, the Charles Bronfman Institute of Personalized Medicine (CBIPM) is an elite biomedical research institute that investigates the nature of human health and disease through rigorous cutting-edge science. The Living Brain Project (LBP) is one of the flagship studies of CBIPM. The largest biological study of the brain in living people, the LBP is a one-of-a-kind resource for for achieving insights into the molecular basis of human brain function. The LBP is currently seeking postdoctoral research fellows to lead the bioinformatics efforts. This position will formally report directly to the CBIPM Director Alexander W. Charney, who is the PI of the LBP. The LBP postdoc will have the following primary responsibilities: 1. Be the first author on one of the primary LBP papers. The postdoc will devise the specific project in partnership with Dr. Charney. The work will include integrating genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, imaging, electrophysiology, and cognitive data from each LBP participant. Data from brain and blood of the same person will be included. Questions will be both biological (eg, how does blood markers predict the state of the brain) and methodological (eg, novel methods for data integration). 2. Be a thought leader around bioinformatics activities to be undertaken by CBIPM. 3. The salary range for the role is $58,661.00 - $60,788.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
