Instrumentation & Controls Designer - Senior

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood in Saskatoon is currently recruiting for an <b>Instrumentation and Controls Engineer - Senior</b> to join our Mining & Minerals group. <br><br><b>Key Responsibilities </b> <br><br><ul><li> Work with clients and vendors to create functional measurement and control systems in mining and mineral processing environments. </li><li> Work independently or within a team of engineers and designers. Mentor junior staff. </li><li> Select appropriate instruments for measurement and control. </li><li> Select appropriate components for control systems, communication systems and fire detection and alarm systems, and select appropriate cables and panels to complete designs. </li><li> Review vendor data for equipment and apply it to instrumentation and controls design. </li><li> Develop piping and instrumentation drawings (P&IDs) and control narratives. </li><li> Obtain measurements and collect data at job sites as required. </li><li> Assist in the preparation of construction contract and equipment procurement packages, including documents such as specifications, data sheets and technical bid evaluations. </li><li> Guide the creation of documents such as instrument index, I/O lists and equipment lists. </li><li> Develop control system architecture and block diagrams, communication network drawings, PLC and DCS panel drawings, instrument loop diagrams, junction box wiring diagrams and fire alarm system risers and layouts. </li><li> Check the design work of others and provide technical feedback. </li><li> When required, lead a project team of Instrumentation engineers and designers including: <ul><li> Coordinate design work and technical input across a project wide, multi-discipline design to ensure cost effective, efficient, safe and timely completion. </li><li> Oversee the development of scope, budgets, schedules and reporting. </li><li> Coordinate resource planning, work packages, deadlines and budget for the project discipline team. </li><li> Provide regular progress reporting regarding the discipline project progress and performance with respect to scope, schedule and budget. </li></ul></li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><ul><li> Electrical Engineering (BSc) degree with completed course in digital and analog systems, and/or chemical engineering, or Diploma in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering Technology. </li><li> Minimum 15 years of experience with design on mining and mineral processing projects. </li><li> Knowledge of potash, uranium, and copper processes. </li><li> Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a project discipline lead overseeing a team of technical professionals and managing scope, schedule, cost, quality, and design of electrical and instrumentation projects. </li><li> Effective communication, organization and time management skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume and deadline-driven environment. Must have the ability to balance the workload and staffing in order to meet multiple deadlines. </li><li> Knowledge and experience in construction is an asset. </li><li> Everyday use of Microsoft Word and Excel. </li><li> Familiarity with ISA, IEEE and CSA standards, including the Canadian Electrical Code, and how to apply them to designs. </li><li> Ability to register as a Technologist (AScT) or Engineer (PEng) in the province of Saskatchewan. </li><li> Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required. </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in consulting and engineering, helping to unlock solutions to critical challenges in energy and materials markets.
