Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Designer (Modeler)

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood is currently recruiting a <b>Senior</b> <b>Electrical & Instrumentation Designer </b>to join our growing Brisbane office on this technically challenging Magnetite project in Uzbekistan. <br><br>Commencing into the Detailed Design phase of a major project, we are designing a Concentrator expected to produce 60 Mt/y of magnetite. <br><br>Wood is at the forefront of engineering solutions for a net zero future. A key component of decarbonising the world is the Mining and Minerals Industry which supplies the critical minerals required for this revolution. Wood is currently delivering critical metals projects (Battery and Magnet metals) all over the world, including Copper, Lithium, Vanadium, Rare Earths, and Base Metals projects. <br><br>You will be involved in the modelling for this new project and support Instrumentation and Electrical Engineers with development of wiring and installation drawings for electrical equipment and work with other disciplines, in a team environment to create multi-discipline design packages. <br><br>Your key responsibilities of the role will include, but are not limited to: <br><ul><li> Coordinate and lead the modelling for E&I work </li><li> Review and intrepret E&I schedules and allocate to design accordingly </li><li> Update models to show E&I equipment in accordance with project standards whilst maintaining segregation requirements. Equipment typically includes cable ladder/racks, field panels, instrumentation, valves, lighting etc </li><li> Liaise with respective designers to discuss requirements and report progress </li><li> Prepare and modify (where required) E&I layout drawings / drop-outs based on 3D model </li><li> Participate in model reviews </li><li> Liaise with other disciplines to agree routes, provide support and/or resolve clashes </li><li> Review Vendor / Supplier General Arrangement drawings to determine layout requirements </li><li> Inter-discipline drawing checking </li><li> Timely transfer of information to other disciplines </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br>What will set you apart from other applicants will be previous experience as a modeller, having worked at an engineering company on large scale mining projects. Ideally, you will also be proficient with Bentley OpenPlant. You will also have: <br><ul><li> Minimum 6 years of modelling experience </li><li> Well-developed computer skills with a good knowledge of relevant design software and a working knowledge of relational databases and excel spreadsheets<br> </li><li> Good understanding of project work flow </li><li> General understanding of Electrical and Instrumentation technology<br> </li><li> Experience with process plant design and layout<br> </li><li> Understanding of other discipline requirements<br> </li><li> Excellent attention to detail and checking skills </li><li> Ability to work unsupervised but within a team, and focus on task completion<br> </li><li> An open mind to new ideas / concepts </li></ul><br> Please note, only applicants holding valid working rights in Australia will be considered. <br><br>So much of our success depends on feeling part of a team with people around us that we can rely on.
