Senior Instrument Engineer (Expression of Interest)

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood Applied Intelligence (AI) is seeking expression of interest applications for a Senior Instrumentation Engineer to support our UK projects. This position can either be staff or contract. <br><br>Whilst this role can be based anywhere in the UK, mobility and travel to customer sites and face to face meetings with colleagues will be expected as required. <br><br>Must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check. <br><br><b> Join a culture of innovation </b> , pushing the boundaries of what is possible to seek the best solutions for our clients. <br><br>In this role you will be responsible for the execution of project work, in accordance with the Discipline Design Instructions, including Wood and / or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control, within the man - hour, cost budgets and the project schedule targets. <br><br><b>Responsibilities / Duties:</b> <br><br>The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, able to work independently, and have demonstrable leadership qualities. You will be confident in your own ability to deliver the Control and Instrumentation scope on a project on time and within budget, while facilitating effective work share with other execution centres around the world. <br><ul><li> Prepare RFQ packages for the Instrumentation packages to the required Client, Wood and Project procedures and standards </li><li> Review Vendors quotations, prepare technical bid evaluations and recommend the final technically acceptable Vendor </li><li> Technically approve Order Variation Summaries </li><li> Hold co-ordination meetings and engineering review meetings with Vendors of major equipment as required </li><li> Liaise with other Disciplines and Client as necessary </li><li> Assess progress and procedure associated reports and input to the Delivery Management System. Derive and suggest plans to recover slippage, correct inefficiency and to take any resulting agreed actions </li><li> Advise the Lead Instrument Engineer of any major slippages and their causes, all policy matters, major technical problems and unresolved differences with other Disciplines, and requests for changes by the Client which may constitute a contract change </li><li> Control and support management of discipline hours </li><li> Prepare, check, approve and provide technical input into project deliverables to the required quality standards in conformance with or better than, the approved budget and programme </li><li> To provide relevant knowledgeable practical skills in the response and actions for:- </li><ul><li> Site visits and site surveys </li><li> Site queries, discussions and optioneering </li><li> Supplier, vendor, contractor, client, and site related discussions </li><li> Site based activities </li></ul></ul><br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><ul><li> Minimum BSc Degree or equivalent demonstratable experience </li><li> To be technically astute and conversant with the lasted advances in technology </li><li> Ability to deliver documentation that is technically correct to the required standard and schedule </li><li> Understand and control Material Take Off </li><li> Experience in industries e.g., Oil and Gas, Refining, Chemical, Pharmaceutical </li><li> Competency to become a discipline G35 Approver (will be assessed on the project by independent checker) </li><li> Experience in Brownfield upgrades / replacement instrumentation projects </li><li> Experience with Emerson and Yokagawa instruments advantageous </li><li> Compressor Station / Metering experience is advantageous </li><li> Ability to develop subcontract and purchase order requisitions where applicable experience in a similar role within the contractor environment is essential </li><li> Prior experience reviewing and approving Engineering Deliverables </li><li> Commercially aware </li><li> Well organized and have a keen eye for detail </li><li> Able to operate in an integrated team environment supporting and leading others with a desire and ability to build trust and respect throughout the team </li></ul><br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in consulting and engineering, helping to unlock solutions to critical challenges in energy and materials markets.
