Principal Instrument Engineer (Contractor)

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood Process & Energy requires Principal Instrument Engineering services to support with EPC for a Pharmaceutical project. <br><br>The role is required to lead execution of instrument scope across all Project phases (Concept to Start-up) based within our Glasgow office where we recoginise the value of hybrid working. <br><br>Responsibilities <br><br><ul><li> Project work as Lead Engineer for projects as required by the C&I Discipline Manager including managing instrument scope, change control, budget and schedule. </li><li> Estimate and execute instrument engineering activities (Concept, FEED & Detailed Design) </li><li> Achieve safety standards as defined in personal performance contract </li><li> Responsible for assessing effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems </li><li> Carry out work in accordance with company and project Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality systems </li><li> Maintain the required technical quality or work </li><li> Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with Change Control Process </li><li> Ensure that designs comply with the relevant procedures, standards and regulations </li><li> Ensure, as far as practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with agreed budget and schedule </li><li> Keep up to date with technical developments, National and International standards and legislative requirements related to the discipline. </li><li> Prepare estimates and schedules and assist in their review </li><li> Maintain good communication with the Client and visit Assets when necessary </li></ul><br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><ul><li> Experience with working within a project team to lead C&I engineering and C&I teams across a range of industry sectors. on Medium / Large capital projects from concept to start-up. </li><li> Be a Self-motivated team player working on own initiative. </li><li> Experience with development of Instrument Engineering deliverables as required on a project by project basis </li><li> Degree or equivalent in appropriate engineering subject </li><li> Chartered Engineer status as a Member of the Institute of Measurement and Control (IMC) or Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) </li><li> API Pharmaceutical experience </li><li> Experience with control and safety system upgrades and modifications (Emerson Delta V desired) </li><li> Experience with specification of field instrumentation, analysers and automated valves </li><li> Experience with sizing of flow devices / control valves / relief devices </li><li> Experience with attendance and contributing to HAZOP, LOPA, Alarm Reviews and SIL Determination </li><li> Experience with IEC 61511 Safety Lifecycle and Emergency Shutdown System architecture and design and SIL determination. </li><li> TUV or similar Functional Safety Engineer qualification. </li><li> Experience with specification of Fire & Gas systems and detection equipment and the application of BS5839-1 </li><li> Experience with IT/Telecoms/Networks/Access Control & CCTV Systems </li><li> Experience in specification and interface management of Instrumentation and Control requirements for Mechanical packages </li><li> Experience with interfacing with Client Engineers and Vendor personnel to facilitate project execution </li><li> Experience with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) </li><li> Knowledge of GAMP and FDA requirements </li></ul><ul><li> Experienced engineer with sound technical background and expertise </li><li> Experienced in the use of appropriate codes of practice, standards and relevant sections of statutory documentation </li><li> Experienced in the use of design and assessment methods used within discipline </li><li> Competent in use of analytical methods used within discipline including theoretical background for analysis programs </li><li> Significant experience in planning, progress monitoring, forecasting and reporting activities for the C&I discipline. </li><li> Conversant with other discipline key project activities and their interaction with/impact on the C&I scope . </li><li> Aware of commercial, contractual and administrative aspects of engineering </li><li> Able to estimate man-hours and materials for delegated aspects of work </li><li> Able to work with other disciplines and draughting sections to meet delivery dates </li><li> Experienced in quality control requirements and quality assurance for engineering work </li><li> Competent in design safety / environmental requirements and procedures </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in consulting and engineering, helping to unlock solutions to critical challenges in energy and materials markets.
